We've just had a 'ferret man' come to look at our rabbit problem and he noticed that I have an arab filly. He then said that his friend has an arab gelding yearling that needs a new home because the owner is now in his 70's and not very well. Apparently he's only had timewasters phoning up about the yearling and is now seriosly considering having him PTS. The yearling is not dangerous but he is only lightly handled due to the man's illness.

I've found the advert and the yearling is just my cup of tea (chestnut with lots of white, just wish that he was a filly really). Money is tight but I do have savings for emergencies and free livery. Plus a yearling wont cost too much, I would cope, I can forfeit extra clothes and cut down on extras. Do I go and see him or not? I know that if I go, he will come home with me.

I always keep my eye out for nice youngsters but I was not seriously looking. Being sensible, what I really wanted was to find one once my filly was riding nicely. She'll be backed next year, so I was thinking of looking more seriously from the end of next summer.

Free livery? ideal, go and see him! Everything happens for a reason, sure, you'll come home with him but who needs luxuries like food!

Do you need another horse? Do you have the time, and inclination for it? If so, then yes, go and see it, but if you are only thinking about seeing it just because its there, then maybe think again. Sorry, not much help there!!!

well if you are always open to having more and was the intention anyway (albeit in a years time) maybe this was meant to be!? Next year would you have entertained the idea of having a 2 yr old? If so, go see it, as someone said earlier you'll either love him or have questions over him. If he poses questions, then perhaps its not meant to be but If you love him you will have to call him Fate!!

If I get him I will need to put lots of time and effort into him due to his lack of handling, but I wont be able to judge how much time and effort he needs without going to see him. It will be easier to either decide against the whole thing and not see him at all, or go, knowing that I'll probably take him unless they want silly money or that he is actually dangerous.
