Oh my.

Well for the ****ty week I've had this week, that's just all been made bearable from that ride I'm just recovering from XD Pmsl.

Well. To cut a long story short, Car written off = No means of transport currently! And we needed shopping, to well, eat! LOL.

So. We're in the middle of no-where pretty much, and nearest shop is in Lynham [10 min drive or so].

Anywho. K was contemplating walkiing to Lynham to get the shopping...which is a bloody long way to walk and caused me to stare at her like she's gone bonkers.

So I was like 'Erm....Ride there?'

So. We did.

Had a quick look on Google maps to see what fields to cut across to get there, luckily enough, there is a bridlepath right to there from us! And a lovely bridlepath it is too! All lovely ground and managed to go at a decent speed most the way to save time.

So then ended up in Lynham about 30-40mins later, after guessing the route [My guessed directions were right for the first time ever!]. Held a fair bit of a traffic up :o riding through the main road and then pulled up in Co-op car park....In a proper parking space, out the way as much as we could! Then I held the horses as K went in to sort the shopping out.

Shopping done. Now had to contemplate getting back on, loaded with shopping bags. LOL.

Split the bags between us, and loaded the small stuff into her many pockets in her big wax jacket....looking completely like a terrorist and not the best look to have in Lynham I'm guessing!

Anywho. Got back and had our hack back through Lynham, receiving MANY bemused looks from drivers and passers-by I might add!
Bear in mind, I was on the tiny little pony and K was on Hairy cob. LOL. Not looking like any sterotypes there..... :p
We were in hysterics at this point the whole way through.

Anyway XD Got back on the bridle way eventually and I thought to save time lets canter back now we were on fields....which, easy as it was going, proved somewhat more difficult when loaded with shopping bags coming back!!!

So anyway, decided sod it, so chicken, mince, milk, sugar and all, went for a merry little canter back. LOL. Steering was at a loss but thankfully it was a straight field. Pmsl.

The horses, thankgod, didn't give two hoots about being loaded up like pack ponies and having flapping bags being carried above them!

Final field opened up into a really nice soft strip so we got a bit carried away [over major giggles!] and ended up having a race back for the final one. Bags and all still.

And finally arrived back on the yard....luckily to no questions as to why we returned larded with shopping!

Pmsl.

And that was my afternoon XD

Another legend hack. Haha!

Absolutely classic - you've made me want to ride to Tesco now, just to see what sort of reception I get... but I don't know anyone stupid enough to come with me and I'm not sure they'd appreciate Sam coming in with me...

Reminds me of this - I took it nearly 20 years ago!

The yard was a 10 minute walk down a lane from a little row of shops - she had just come off box rest and so we took her for a walk.. :D

I WOULD!!! .............but i live a very very long way away from you :p

Indeed it was!

I have no dignity left anyway compared to other previous 'hacks' of ours [Pink wellied hunting....etc]...so I couldn't have cared less luckily haha :p Took me back to my Casspot days as a teen going to the village shop during lunch break at work for a picnic hack haha!

Nooo no photos sadly! Had a random person that went to tho in the car park. LOL.

Haha that woolworth pic is a classic!!!

I always wanted to go up to the McDonalds near Cass's old yard and go through the drive through on her!!! Haha.

a few years ago i rode though a mc donalds drive through with friends and friend got a mcflurry! we had to go through sainsburys car park to get to it though and people were not impressed :D

Oh wow! ROFL.

Wish I was in the car park at the time, I would have taken a photo - of the horses and the bemused shoppers!!!

My old riding center way a few miles away from a Mcdonalds and we used to ride through the drive through on the ponies and then sit on the grass with them and eat it then ride back. It was great fun and all ages enjoyed it

Sounds so much fun!!!!!!

The best I ever did was ride to the local shop to get pot noodles etc for lunch at the yard, or last summer I rode to the bakery to buy cakes. But chose a gooey strawberry danish once and got it all down my horse's neck!

15 mins from my yard is a car wash - one where its all doen by hand for you

Ive thought of taking my big hairy cob there on his muckiest days just to see their faces lol :D

this is where those huge saddlebags would come in useful - you know the ones, tied to the pommel, one on the cantle, another over the back.........Binky, you are stark raving bonkers :D

Haha the lady double bagged them when she realised XD

Lol, my life isn't as bonkers as it seems honest!!! Lmao.

This IS the future (with any luck). When BP have drained every last drop of oil from under the sea, we will all be riding to the shops, and all those to$$ers who shout at us from their cars will be on foot and the horse will once again be king of the road BWAHAHAHA.....opps, sorry, got a bit carried away.

Great story Binky :D

^^ Hahaha very very true!!!

Imagine all the little boy racers and business men in their mercs having to learn toride... ;)

lmaoooooooooo!
made me LOL that did :')
i've ridden to school before with mum at school with horsebox waiting for us to arrive and take the horse back! I beat the lads on their bikes though with my hairy old cob :D

PMSL. Oh man! Can you imagine the fat blokes in bad suits trying to make it to important meetings, charging up the outside lane of the M6 Bridleway, mobile phone in one hand, Samsonite in the other on some snorting great cob / shire, hahahaha.
