WOW !

Well, what can I say !?

Went to Golden Cross for BSJA today.....

Took Trike for a crack at the Blue Chip Equinox Novice Qualifier, and Bo for another run out after our dismal showing last weekend
shocked.gif

Anyway, we arrived at 9am, and booked in for some clear round with Bo.....at 10:15am there were still about 20 left to jump in it
shocked.gif
Bo was a complete sh1t and played up in the collecting ring (which was more like a swamp), and then reversed me the full length of the car park too
blush.gif
He didn't want to go in the ring either, but once persuaded proceeded to jump a decent round with the exception of one nap by the collecting ring
crazy.gif

The Equinox Novice was class 1....and there were 63 in it
tongue.gif
Trike was feeling good...as he had been all week...so we were hopeful
smirk.gif
He jumped a super clear round.....1 of 23 in the first round
shocked.gif
So, we were drawn 19th in the JO.....and by the time our turn came, there were only 5 DC's ! We decided to go for a steady clear....and the boy done great
grin.gif
He jumped everything beautifully......but our plan nearly backfired when we picked up 3 time faults
blush.gif
Anyway, that put us 6th..with 4 to go....and only 8 qualifying
crazy.gif
It was tense to the last....but we ended up in 8th place....so we're off to Solihull for the finals
grin.gif
YAY !

Bo then jumped the 1m Am Qualifier...and was a bit of a prat again both in the warm-up and in the ring. Anyway, he had the first two down as he was jumping far to fast and flat and then a silly runout where we were on a ridiculously long one....but apart from that he got round. It may not sound much, but after last weeken it was progress
smile.gif

Hopefully photo's to follow....

Excellent result well done you!

Bet you have a nice Grin on your face
grin.gif

Any pictures?!

My mate is off to the S Final's - I may go with her so will look out for you!

That sounds very promising - hopefully Rambo is getting over his fit of strops and the next time you can just concentrate on the jumps rather than just getting round the course! Well done with Trike - sounds much more like my type of horse!

Great report! Well done
grin.gif

GC sounds as if it was absolutely manic - are there always that many people there for BSJA? I've only done unaff there and that was pretty popular too - was never a fan of the warm up there though
crazy.gif

ahhhhh if i hadnt have been poncing around in a dressage arena today i would have gone to Golden X seen Trike do really well!!!
grin.gif
Thats a FANTASTIC result - really well done
cool.gif
and Bo sounds like he's getting his act back together
smile.gif

glad you had a good day after last week

Fabulous - well done trike. It's not easy qualifying for Blue chip. See you at the finals.

Yeah ! Definitely up for going to the finals this time ! I only qualified once before....about 25 years ago
shocked.gif
and never got to go to those finals as the horse went lame
frown.gif

Do you know when they are etc ?

It's probably just as well for me that youe WERE poncing around a dressage arena as otherwise i probably would have been 9th

LOL! I think there's always that many when they've got qualifiers on. There was another BC qualifier on afterwards too...the Newcomers one...can't remember what it's called !? Anyway, they had two more classes to go before that one started so god knows what time they were going to finish last night
shocked.gif

April sometime.... not much help. Spot qualified last year in the Discovery, but he also wasn't right so didn't go either. The best thing about it though is that it is sensibly priced - say £15/per class and not £100 like scope can be.

I think Sarah had to fax something back saying that she was going. The classes probably won't be on the same day though
frown.gif

I know someone who jumped the BN a few years ago and she got placed with faults in the jump off, so if you go Double Clear you probably have a good chance of doing well

Ooohh that sounds good ! I know the National Amateurs was quite pricey, and Trailblazers was ridiculous, so a reasonably priced Champs would make a nice change lol! Is it just one class do you know, or do you jump a pre-class to qualify like Scope / Natoinal Amateurs !?

It'll be a good thing if it doesn't turn into a steeplechase....coz we wouldn't stand a chance against the clock
tongue.gif

Did you say before that the finals are 10cms bigger than the qualifiers ?

I think it's just the final but you might have the option of jumping a warm up. I don't know about the heights. I can find out of someone. Santa145 has been there she might know

well done to trike!!!!!!!!! i bet you were thrilled!

Im glad Bo behaved himself in the ring, even if he did have a couple of fences, at least he didnt nap like last time. x

Bloody brilliant!
Rambo its about time you had some good results.

Great result for trike and I bet you are so excited about going to Solihull now
smile.gif

I am also glad to hear that you managed to boot Bo round the smaller classes, hopefully soon he will begin to realise he likes SJing again and stops being silly!

DD reckons they're in April sometime...i'm sure we'll post about it nearer the time when we get the 'official' invite and we're all even more excited lol!

Fantastic well done you!!!!
laugh.gif
Great result for Trike especially as it was such a big class, and fab that Bo jumped well too!
grin.gif
I was there with Shadow, i think i saw you.
smile.gif

We got there first thing and didn't think it would be so busy.
shocked.gif
There were about 20 in the warm up and Shad was very on her toes, which is unlike her! We went into the clear round and had one down, she was jumping well but a bit strong. We were fifth to go in the first round of the Equinox Novice and we went clear, much to my suprise!
grin.gif
Then a long wait until the j/o and i completely f*cked it up, we had one down, then jumped the double really badly i don't know how we got over it, then, because of complete lack of control, we had a stop at the last fence but jumped it second time and somehow managed to get eliminated by not going through the finish
crazy.gif
not that it mattered by that point!
tongue.gif
I don't think i'll jump her in a snaffle again.
blush.gif

Hi Helen
smile.gif

Yes, I saw you go in the Novice....you were going great tbh and i don't know exactly where or why it went wrong for you in the JO
crazy.gif
You weren't the only person to miss the finish though....I saw at least one other person do the same...but they did realise their mistake and circle round to come back through it
tongue.gif
That double was far too long for Novices imo too.....I walked it at 8.5 yards ! Trike is a very long striding horse and even he felt about half a stride off the second part both times through it. I saw a few horses put down again and either scramble over on 2 strides, or dump their riders in the second part. They actually shortenned it up for the next class !
Your horse has a very athletic jump on her too and was making it all look very easy
smile.gif

Aww thanks! I've only recently started jumping her in a snaffle, she was fine at Crockstead but i think she's getting a bit cocky at GX, and she's jumped a few Disco's through the summer so she thinks she can fly round BN, which is fine but i had trouble steering yesterday!
I thought the striding was very long but she always seems to sort herself out. At least i hadn't gone clear then missed the finish though, now i'll make sure i always check where the finish is!

I saw Trike in the first round and he looked great!
smile.gif

Hehe....I think we copied your tactic of only jumping 1m classes with Trike recently...it certainly felt like a step down with him, and it worked...coz he went forward really well (well, for him at least
tongue.gif
).
I always find at GX, when it's Keith building the courses, he uses lots of those tight turn backs...they really don't suit Trike as he loses a lot of momentum on the turns...

Are you going to Crockstead on sunday ?

Yep Shadow backs off the fences more at 1m.
I find the courses at GX are usually 2 fences then turn then 2 fences then turn again, usually she's good at the turns so it suits us fine, not sure what went wrong yesterday!!

No not going to Crockstead on Sunday, don't think i'll get there until March now. Are you going? Good luck if you are.
