Oh my god.......This is awful :((((((

Poor angels, I have no issue with anyone eating anything - how can I? However, I have huge issues with the disgusting, inhumane way these animals are treated before they are eaten, it's simply sub-human.
The people partaking in this trade should be ashamed, you don't need to be rich or educated to know to treat other living creatures as you would want to be treated.

Animal welfare at its poorest. You would have thought with a simple bit of care such as feeding, these animals would then produce more meat and so more profit for them.

Agree with BDC

Chicken transport is not much better in many cases in this country. But they're not cute and fluffy are they.

And there are beaten animals in the world... I fail to get your point SusieT.

There are plenty of incorrect, inhumane and grotesque practises going on concerning both animals and humans but you have to tackle each, one at a time and on it's own merit.

And for the record, I personally never buy supermarket chicken, my eggs come from my own free range hens and the meat the same. So no, animals don't have to be cute and fluffy for me to give a rats arse :)

I'm thinking that the dogs must have been in a pretty poor state for them to be able to manhandle so many into cages as small/cramped as that

That is awful. I have seen a similar article but a lot of the dogs were said to be pets that had been stolen and were still wearing their collars as well as stray dogs.

The inhumanity of it all. Disgusting.

Poor little sods.:(

Long distance transport of all animals for slaughter is wrong, and should be banned. Whether that's chickens, rabbits, cattle, sheep, pigs - or horses and dogs.

Slaughter at source. Carcase-only trade. This is the only way!

Absolutely agree

Awful :( those poor dogs. I don't like the idea of people eating dog, but accept that people do. Don't know how people can treat animals like that tho, but then in a country where human rights are so low on the agenda, how can we expect animals to be treated? :(

I don't like the DM list of other countries that eat meat. Yes, sure husky dogs are eaten by people living in the arctic, as an emergency source, I doubt they eat them as a delicacy? I mean, people turn to cannibalism when they have no other source don't they, but don't then think you'd put human flesh on a list of things that that nation eats?

In the phillipines the butchers put the head of the dog thats in their shop that day on a stake outside as an advertisement.
