It was a competition in last month's Horse magazine. I've also won an elevator bridle.
I'm v excited and a bit scared. God knows what he'll make of us. I don't have any details yet as to when it'll be so will have to get some practice in!
My daughter had one with him last year from Horse mag and he was brilliant .Only tiny jumps and had to be perfect. She asked if she could have another one and he agreed ,The second one the jumps were massive with water and everything they had been jumping their horses over ,he wouldn't even take any money and has kept in touch since and she hopes to go over again in the spring.
Thats interesting as I was a bit worried I might be a bit out of my depth as I am only doing British Novice at the moment and that's nerve wracking enough. Although I dare say if he put the jumps up higher I wouldn't dare refuse! LOL! I'd be very interested to see if he can help me adjust Jenny's stride as she's so forward going it can be very difficult to shorten her up and she sometimes takes strides out in related distances. I'd love it if we could concentrate on that rather than height. I guess I'll just have to wait and see - I hope I hear more details soon.
You will love it ,he is an absolute expert and very blunt but not nasty. Is the lesson down here at his yard.
Oh dear just realised ,it is Robert you are having lesson with, she had lessons with Steven ,but same thing Robert watched as my daughter rode and they share the yard and mum is indoors!
Joking aside they are lovely and as I said EXPERTS
I was going to have a mini moan about the thread title (it's not my favourite expression) but as it is actually Robert Smith and so therefore blooming close, I'll let you off!!!!!!!
I've heard he's really, really good, which isn't always the case with top riders, is it? They can't all teach. I well remember a top sjumper in my college days (who shall remain nameless!) who came to teach a demo, and said ... well nothing really. Except 'Do it again' and 'That was a bit better' LOL
Sorry about the title but it was the first thing I said when I got the letter and then when I rang one of my poor horsie friends with the news I think I just kept muttering it over and over again. I'm still the same this morning! I'm very excited and also very scared! I don't think he'll accept any nonsense and I'm not sure he'll be too impressed with my fear of jumping anything over a metre! Might be just what I need as I'll be too in awe to refuse! Hopefully I will have calmed down by the time the lesson is organised - in fact I may need to calm down before I go into work today!
