Awful none stop for over 24 hours and expecting at least another 24hrs
Oddly wimpy WB still wanted out this morning, even neighing when I picked up his turn out rug
He was munching grass in torrential rain -
Mind you an hour later he wanted back in
With him I think it's more needing the routine than anything
oh yuck the dogs stink of wet dog and my boots and trousers stink of horse pee-i really must get a roof put up outside the back door and the dog kennel too, so stinky stuff can stay outside
I'm keeping a close eye on mine as they live out 24/7 in this with only natural shelter.
The Welsh D has always been happy as usual out in the persistent rain and wind with no rug. But keeping a close eye on the conny as he considers himself a tad precious :/
Hope it stops soon as his also a little fresh to ride in this weather which he isn't usually. Well, a little fresh is an understatement.
im feeling rather sorry for the new boy at the moment who has been happily sunning himself in spain in 38 degree heat not having seen rain for 9 months.. to here 8 degrees and peeing it down... hes currently out in a medium weight but is only out 9 hours a day as he prefers it inside but i am feeling a but bad for him
Mine only went out for a couple of hours yesterday as it was so appalling, then today they have been out for a total of 3, before my mare decided that she wanted in 'RIGHT NOW' and went mental in her paddock!! She is now happily eating hay in the stable. She hates the wind, and the ponies are more than happy to keep her company.
Mine have been in since 11am yesterday as we had relentless rain since 9am and was still raining this morning. The local roads are flooded and the paddocks are under water! It has stopped raining now but will have to check the state of the fields before deciding whether they can go out this evening, if not they will get a bomb around the indoor school before spending another night tucked up eating hay!
Mine are out at night, but for the last two nights I have swopped them from the diet field to a field with lush grass and more shelter (although wet underfoot). Last night I checked them at midnight and they were fine, bums to the wind but munching away. This morning, I just opened the gate and they came into their stables by themselves, my mare shivering. The wind is coming down from the moors right at the stables, so they are shut in with top doors shut too. I will leave them in tonight, and then go from there. I will be gutted to have them in at night so early - I usually get to Nov 1st, but hey ho!
Its absolutely awful here too, am at work so not sure on flood situation as yet, but will make the trek to yard after work have been thinking all day I knew I should've left in, BUT also keep telling myself he will not shrink and that horses are out in this 24/7 too, least he will be brought into a nice deep cosy straw bed and haynet to munch away at.
Can't wait to go get him in now though, hate the thought of him out in this, there is no natural shelter at all fields are open and have open countryside all around us too so gets rather windy.
