Just though I would ask for opinions as people on here are so helpful and kind as well as knowing so much.
This is regarding King. He is 15h1in and 9yo just for info. Until the last year he has had no problems at all.
Basically he had several things happen before we bought him. Firstly he was not worked properly and now has an very hollow backed movement and bad head carriage. He was very overworked, he also had a hoof abcess and was worked just after it was lanced and he was still lame
(not by us I must add). consequently he was lame for a while. The farrier who is fantastic sorted the hoof but the osteopath had to realign his back and neck over three appointments. He was sound after a further 2 weeks off with us. He has been fine for about a month.
However yesterday working with him he is slipping behind almost constantly
. He is not showing lame as such and unlike before he has ears forwards and no pained eyes. He is on *holiday* again whilst we wait for the relevant people to check him again. Last week the Farrier came to do Mighty and checked his shoes which were fine, he also checked for any signs of the infection coming back.
Poor sis is very scared that he has back problems again and worried about what this could mean. She has not been working him hard and is not heavy on him at 9st and also he was cleared as fine by vet, osteo and farrier.
I am out of ideas, the ground is the same so that is not causing the slipping and all I'm thinking is back again
. I can understand why the previous things may have happened but am very worried that with that sorted and after being fine for a while it appears to be back again. Could having previous issues caused weakness? May he always have issues or a be at more risk now?
Just to add his saddle was made to fit him and has been checked. He has been working in a much nicer shape too.
Any ideas, experiences or comments welcome. Am obviously going to bombard the vet and osteo with questions but until then *very scared*, poor boy.
Sorry for the long post, not really expecting replies, just needed to vent.
