Yep, I have a half clipped horse! Fly, (being Fly) decided that actually he did not want to be clipped at all. Got most of it off except only half way up neck and loads of fluff on belly! What a sight. Got sj tomorrow, can you imagine the looks and comments!! Will have another bash today but if my boy plays true to form we will be setting a new trend! Why do I never see other half clipped horses around?

I clipped a horse last year who wouldn't let us clip his shoulders so we left them!! He was clipped everywhere else except for his shoulders!!! So there are other half clipped horses around! Hope your boy is good today and you can get the rest off

Oh dear! Don't worry if you can't get it all off, i have had to ride round on a half/partially clipped horse before as my old cob didn't like being clipped much, he'd put up with it for a while and then get fed up and try to attack you. I have photo evidence of some appauling clips he had as a result!

Get someone experienced to use a twitch to start with then remove it once you get going, if he's let you do half he's not that terrified. Put cotton wool in his ears, turn up the radio too, it all helps.
Years ago before sedation was common my eventer friend and I were clipping my incredibly difficult cob.
We had just watched a film where they got a horse to the floor using ropes and branded it, so guess what we did?
Yes, we used ropes across his back and under his belly to get him down, tied all his legs together and clipped him.
NO DON'T DO THAT, but I'm telling you I understand how desperate you feel!!!!!
Good luck..

Do you remember a few seasons ago Martin Pipe (the racehorse trainer) had his horses clipped in a very funny way?
I can't believe you 'floored' a horse HH. My vet thought we would 'floor' our shetland pony years ago - needless to say we couldn't. (Stubborn little b-----s shetlands!).

The only places I can clip my pony is under his belly and over his shoulders - and that when he's sedated. I'm off to chilham ode tomorrow, so don't worry, you wont be the only person in disgrace!

Can't get a twitch near him! Obviously had that done one time too many! Just gone out and bought (oh the expense!) some cordless trimmers and will try to do top of neck and bits ive missed with those. Bloody hell.... just read them, they need 24 hours initial charge! Talk about last minute!

Yes I too sported the assymetrical look up untill a couple of days ago. It looked so bad I was almost stopping traffic

We are sort of OK now albeit a little jaggedy

I once clipped an entire side of my mare, and then as i finished the blades went, and the spares were out being sharpened. She stayed that way until about 2 months after, i couldnt face clipping half of her and then half again so i waited until she grew enough coat to do both sides properly!
