Gonna try this today, I've been bitten whilst riding the last 2 days and have a horrid reaction. Going to leave a bottle down the yard and see what happens, thanks.

Poor horse was tied to the trailer having her travel boots put on when a horsefly bit her under her tail. Despite frantic swishing she couldn't get rid, and with it firmly latched on she broke free, bucked and farted and ploughed round for 15 minutes till we manged to catcher her and tentitively lift her tail at a distance (as back legs trying to kick it), and, eventually, after spraying Phazer at it solidly for 5 minutes the wretched thing dropped off. They are extra vile this year, I have the lumps to prove it!

My foal has adopted the technique of flinging himself on the floor in anger if a horsefly dares to land on him. It's very funny!
