Long story short but went for an appointment at 4 30, and was feeling pretty good as had not had painkillers since 11.15. YAY.

well he asks how I was and I explained all that happened last week etc with me collapsing at work on fri etc etc, and he looks at it, pokes it, squashes me in a few places and then said "so your sure the xrays showed no break?' I said. "the hospital only x rayed the top of my spine" he said "oh i thought they x rayed the whole thing" I said "no!" he said "I am not doing anything on your back today until I have an x ray as I think you have broken one if the spurs of your vertebrae hence the continuing pain every time you move, yes the swelling is down a lot and thats good, but no I can see your back still does not look right. Oh and I think you have ripped most of the muscles in your back too" i said "oh (un mentionable word) what do I do now" he said "well your not going to be doing much for a while but go and get it x rayed. your dad should be able to sort you one out"

I leave, drive home and feel sick have way due to pain (the longest I have driven since the accident and it was only about 10 miles and back) and am now at home about to take more painkillers then go see Jim.

Oh pooo.

hmmm good plan, I am going private though, cant be bothered with this 4 hour waiting stuff. My dad said he needs to talk to me properly when he gets home (at about 6) so wont be doing anything until then as I am not driving myself to hospital, the last journey was bad enough.

Thanks Binky, I am kinda not that bothered. i have got used to the pain and that was the main thing bothering me, and its not now, its just its now going to be longer until I can ride jim. I had to play some games with him in his stable today, like hunt the snacks, (he found them pretty quick as they were in my pocket) and we did some stretches and I used a scratchy stick to itch his ears for him which he liked. Anyone want to come and ride/luge him for me?? He harmless honest, reason my back is broken is all my own fault!!

Oh poopy poo poor you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was hoping you were on the road to recovery. Well, at least you'll find out before any more damage happens

T xxxxxxxxxxxx

Ha ha Binky I would offer to come pick you up but alas, no driving for me either :(

Rangerover I am in Padworth near mortimer and burghfield.

Thanks all for wishes and vibes. I am sure I will be fine, I just spent an hour with Jim, oops :o. hes to cuddly to stop cuddling him.

TBH I'm not surprised to hear this, I did think it had to be worse than the hospital were saying (voice of experience - the NHS have missed fractures twice on me)

Hope your recovery progresses well

The Watcher - neither am I really! it just hurt to dam much. My dad just got home (ah the duties of a GP on call, they never return home when expected). I think he is kinda having to eat his words a bit too. Never mind, no harm done. I am going for x rays in the morning but will ring my boss now to let her no what going on.

ouch...sorry to hear this...missed what actually happened but never good to hear something like this. don't blame you for going private at all...fingers crossed for a quick recovery

Poor you! :(

I think you should have an MRI as well. Will show everything that way. sometimes muscles can contract and stay in spasm after a trauma. If they lock around a nerve the pain can be excruciating. I had this after a car crash a few years ago.

Hope all is ok and keep us posted.

def have this nerve pain thing, both osteo and cranial osteo have said this is what is causing v severe pain down my leg.

argh that sounds painful BB...it always hurts more when its a gradual fall
much better to get projectiled (thats what normally happens to me ) i bet your dad feels a tad guilty now

I used to nearly pass out with the pain so really feel for you.

Muscles tend to react and support if they feel trauma such as in a fall or sudden impact. My spine had corkscrewed from my crash and the muscles were holding it in this position which was trapping a nerve. If someone touched under my right scapula I would literally drop to the floor in pain. Once I had checked discs etc were ok with MRI it took a combination of massage and osteo to put me straight again.

It was amazing what a differance it made after a few treatments. Took about four sessions before the massage therapist could actually touch that area tho :o

I actually went on to study massage last year as it was something which helped me so much and I wanted to understand it.

MRI first tho as no therapist will want to treat you unless they are sure that there is nothing more serious going on.
