Lovely Northamptonshire again!

naughty 4 yr old sent me skywards today, for no flipping reason whatsoever. i stayed on the enormous vertical levade that then launched upwards, but the humongous buck that followed it was too much, and i let go. Oops, wrong decision, went up vertical in frog position, came down in frog position. knee went clunk clunk to the left, then clunk clunk to the right. nice. lay in arena yelling "help" like a useless muppet until one of next door neighbour's workmen heard me and came to help. managed to hobble up arena using him on 1 side and a rake as a crutch on the other to catch naughty loose horse (hooleying around in her tack like a psycho beast), knee dislocated again as i tried to get her, and went back in again. niiiiiice. screamed and collapsed on the floor. no cool points for me.
managed to lead her down arena and into stable, strip off tack (hey, horsey girls are tough, right?!) while lovely workman tried to help and looked on in amazement... (he's not horsey and i didn't want witchy 4-year old to have fun with him and probably put him in hospital.)
just back from A&E with crutches and splint, back to see orthopaedic specialist tomorrow... hope i can beg/bully them into operating asap, as it has no lateral stability at all and i think i've mullered the cruciate again (it's my unlucky knee.) thank god for private medical insurance.
btw, the first thing the triage nurse asked me was "were you wearing a hat?" (yes) followed by "were you wearing a body protector?" (yes). it felt good to look responsible and get an approving smile and not get a disapproving "all horsey people are nutters who deserve injuries" look...
so, vibes and sympathy please, and a curse on my very naughty Daisy, who i might not love quite as much as i did before...
humph.

God poor you!!! We are all nutters I think, my friend non horsy has done the same injury to her ankle as I did and she is on crutches and laid up for weeks, I just got on with it Stupidly!!!

Hope all goes well tomorrow and you get the surgery asap

OUCH OUCH OUCH

Lots of healing and 'hope you get your surgery soon' ((((vibes))))

Oh no - that sounds excruciatingly painful. Poor you, naughty Daisy

Hope you are well dosed up with painkillers and the doctors do what's needed asap. Healing vibes x

thanks everyone, much appreciated.
Baydale, yes, i've had that one rebuilt already, so it was slightly weaker, but it's held for about 5 years so i thought it was good. drats and stuff. last time i tore meniscus, ruptured cruciate and fractured base of femur, which was prob worse... so, i guess i'm quite lucky really! i was sitting in casualty saying "at least i'm not on a backboard or something" and desperately trying to find a bright side to look on! *Pollyanna face*

I reckon it's nigh on impossible to find a bright side whilst sat/lying in A&E unless you're on the happy gas.

Oh no

That sounds really horribly painful.

Hope all goes well tomorrow, and you can get quickly booked in for op.

Have you anyone to help with the horses, or will they have to be shoved out in the field for a while???

Which one is Daisy (the FO one or the other)???

Fiona

On the plus side, when people are critiquing pics on here they are always wittering on about landing on your feet if the horse disappeared, so you can now consider yourself officially a 'good rider' as described by the good people of HHO

Sounds v ouchie, you have my sympathies, I am still limping about like a cripple too, though at least I can now ride/drive - just walking I have issues with!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGH Daisy you bugger! what a naughty 4 year old does she not know you have a dodgy knee? very inconsiderate of her to be so immature!
wink.gif

On the bright side was the work man a sweaty bare chested diet coke break man who came bounding to your rescue?.... no? fat wearing hi viz and eating a sausage roll oh well......

Huge vibes to you for fast knee recovery, and also good behaviour vibes to Daisy

Eeeek massive ouchies, poor you K - naughty Daisy, no more food/shelter for her
mad.gif
Fingers crossed that you manage the charm the specialist sufficiently to be operated on ASAP...

and that someone will run around after you while you recover!

Oh, yuck! Poor you.

Knees are, well, such a pain.

Everything crossed for a hopeful prognosis tomorrow. Don't cricketers do their knees in a lot? Perhaps you can track down whomever they use. (If we were in Canada I'd tell you to find someone who does skiers but I don't think that's going to be possible in your part of the world.)

In the mean time, don't be a hero. Glad to hear you have help on the way.

Ok K - very sorry to hear this, if you need a hand with anything please shout me.

Probably not quite the same but my dog did his crutiate last year, a long slow recovery for him, I never thought he was going to come sound again but he did - £3,000 down for me though

Wishing you a speedy recovery and honestly if you need any help please ask.

Jx

Oooh, I feel your pain. Did the same thing from an very unhinged four year old in April this year and the pain is still very fresh in my mind. Knees are such a bugger!

Very virtuous with the hat and BP, but make sure you get plenty physio attention. At least you've private health care - had I not done so myself I would still be on one leg!!

Mega healing vibes to you and make sure you rest properly!!

Ouch!

I really hope your cruciate isn't involved as that is never good.

Which hospital were you in?
confused.gif
my neice was in Peterborough Hospital this afternoon having her leg put in a cast - not horse/pony inflicted this time but a repeat injury to a previous one but no riding for her for 6 -8 weeks so another horse for me to ride......
