On no what a b*llarcks! I hope they can fix that knee and that it is not too long before you are back in action! 2009 has not been a good year injury wise for a few of us on here!
thanks so very much everyone, really appreciate all the nice comments and helpful ideas.
had an eventful night, co-codamol does not agree with me at all, passed out cold off my crutches on way back to bed after a trip to the loo, sprained my thumb (the one James sprained last year mid-jump!) and hit my head on the loo door. lucky not to break my nose though...! OH came to rescue, scraped me up off the floor, and i passed out cold again and started snoring as he struggled to hold me up off my bad leg! then passed out again in the shower this morning (not the best idea, but i felt disgustingly dirty) and he had to try to hold my slippery body up while trying to wake me up as i put more and more weight on my bad knee... ooooops. no more painkillers for me.
knee is hugely fat and has interesting small round bruises on the inside, look as if it's where it dislocated, cool!
reasonably good news at ortho clinic though - partial tear of ligament only (because it can weight bear without collapsing as long as it's straight, it's not totally gone), specialist managed to get a big click out of it and then stopped (clever man, i was about to start swearing or worse), no op requd as it'd make the joint stiff, and it'll heal on its own (allegedly) in about 6 weeks, maybe less.... wooooooo hoooooooooo, could be much worse.
I'm glad to hear the news from the specialist this morning is positive.
A word of warning though, when you start doing those boring leg lift and straightens make sure you split them up and do equal numbers with your toes pointing right, left and in the centre. I found out the hard way (after having asked the physio
) that if you do them all with your toe pointing the way that is most comfortable you don't work the ligaments that actually NEED working fully. If you are using a specialist sports physio then this hopefully won't be an issue for you.
thanks jemima_too, that's really useful to know, much appreciated.
MickeyMoo, that makes me feel much better actually, not so pathetic, it's SO embarrassing, my poor OH, good job he's amazingly strong, poor guy!
btw, i think it was Fiona who asked which 4 year old did this... it was the FO one. i knew she was sharp but she's been good as gold for months, slightly cheeky but nothing nasty at all. i've not had one launch upwards/forwards at that angle before (about 70 degrees) and because i softened the reins so she didn't go over backwards, she had free rein to bury her head and buck. oops. MUST. REACT. FASTER...
Co-codamol is bad for me too - last week I managed to make my colleagues on a teleconference think I was drunk, my dressage trainer ask me if I was stoned, and despite repeating the time of the lesson back to him, was an hour out when I turned up for my lesson I'd booked whilst on them! I was only taking half the A&E recommended dose too, so I reckon I'd have been the same way as you if I'd taken the lot!
Sorry to hear that you are broken, Kerilli - get better soon. In the meantime could you start some interesting discussion topics on this forum for us other "off games" members???!!!
only just seen this post. Little bugger Daisy. Really glad you dont need op and specialist felt you should heal in 6 weeks. Hope its quicker than that and horses behave themselves for everyone else in the meatime!
thanks so so much KW33, i'll try not to bother you but if i get desperate (appt in 3 wks) i might ask! am determined to be very good to try to speed up healing...!
Definately take lots of arnica - the 30c one is best - and get a magnetic bracelet on asap. Anything that potentially speeds up the healing process has to be good. Have just delivered the same to my niece who has done something to her ankle ligaments.
As for painkillers - agree with whoever said alcohol instead!!
well, unfortunatly i don't think you could of been any sharper with your reactions. its alot easier to think what you 'should' of done but if we could all react that quick i think we would all of turned into rodeo queen's!!!!! (and kings). by the sounds of it i think she just decided she was having some time off and you just had to go along with it!!!
QR - ouch, that sounds very painful poor you!
But does anyone else have the same three ads along the top of this post as I do *this may have already been noted have only read first page!)

haha, should i try and get compensation from the little trout... no food for her for the rest of her days, kind of thing!
Did you break her yourself? Do you have 3rd party liability insurance? If the answer to both questions is yes, you can probably sue yourself for compensation!
Hope you get well soon, and you'll have more time to create some "interesting" threads on here.
Sounds like the surgeon was fairly positive which is great. Have you had an MRI???
Hope your groom/chauffeur etc all organised and you can be cosseted for the next month or so. Do you work from home or anything (or will you get a break from that too)?
Naughty Daisy. I hope she is feeling suitably guilty (though must admit S didn't seem to be when she kicked me last year).
