Don't mind me - need to bemoan my absolute uselessness!

In a fit of new baby sleep deprivation (that's my excuse) I've just gone and bought a blue mears cutaway riding jacket I don't want, and can't afford!

I remember a friend looking smart in her tweed cutaway and being jealous, I thought I'd buy one for this season. Oh poo. And now I'd need to buy a waistcoat for it, and for the price of the two combined I could get a nice, new normal one!

So now I'm going to have to try and sell it, and hide the deed from the OH....

{this isnt an advert or anything, I'm just having palpitations at the thought of just how bloody stupid I am.)

Can I wear a mustard yellow waistcoatt with it for hunting?

LOL I can sympathise, I just won a gorgeous anky pad for my lame horse - but still, it'll be there for when I can ride her, hopefully!

I'm sure if its nice you will be able to sell it :)

QR

It was an ebay auction unfortunately! Its a mears and I wasn't the only bidder so it should be resellable - no doubt at a loss! *facepalm*

I think all women have clothes that they have never worn hanging in the wardrobe, horse women just have different sorts.
I have a beautiful Themarex rug whith my intials in gold on both sides that has never been worn, to nice to put on a horse. A suede lead rein saddle, pony not broken. A Senderholm bridle not worn, again far to good for us. And that just off the top of my head.

Here here........I am guilty too :(

Oh dear, I have done this kind of thing too many times.. Hopefully you'll be able to re-sell OP, make a really good eye-catching advert for it and hope for the best :)

Must be the time of year for it !!!! I have recently bought new riding hat (didnt fit) jacket (didnt like, didnt need etc), chaps (wont ever wear), boots (too small) - most from ebay - I relisted it all and nearly all went at same price I paid - I even got slightly more for the boots !

Dont hand around put it back on ebay and hopefully someone will snap it up for an xmas pressy.

Buy a waist coat, wear it for a season. At the end sell both on ebay and get your money back.
If you go to the shop and buy a new jacket, its money wasted as if you sell you will lose money.
My daughter has had bueatiful second hand jackets, and when shes outgrown then, when sold its funded the next one. Now thats what i call a result.:D

Haha!! Well as long as I'm not the only one then!

Thank goodness it's not just me!! I have a beautifull cocktail dress I bought 3 weeks ago, (just in case I need one!!) the last time I needed to wear one was over 8 years ago. I won't mention the horse attire that sits there gathering dust. I think buying tendon boots is the cue for a horse to go lame.

frustrated - can I even wear a navy blue wool cutaway for hunting? What waistcoat would be suitable? I didn't think about selling the waistcoat on aswell, doh! Hopefully I can find one on ebay rather than paying £50 for a new one!

I assumed I could, that's why I got it. But then after paying I suddenly though "Oh! But it's for showing!" But yes, you're right :)

Phew! I feel a lot less panicky now, am still reeling from the childbirth hormones (two months on....) and little things like this can tip me into psycho-ville

Hallelujah ! I am not the only impulse buyer.. I still have a brand new beautiful fully beaded wine coloured full length gown, I got it for a quarter of it's price in a Debenhams sale. It makes me look like Jessica rabbit, gives me curves where I didn't know I had them! Am I brave enough to wear it out, am I heck ! But cannot bear to part with it LOL :o

Pony has some beautiful Clarendon leather knee boots - she's never worn them... but my guilty buys are hay nets of all things !!

It's my understanding that they should only be worn sidesaddle really ... best get searching for one of those now too :)

(ps I know people that hunt in them )

Ah well, as long as I dont look too daft in it! It arrived today and is gorgeous, lovely thick wool, much better than my cheapo polyester showjumping one. A friend has offered to make me a waistcoat, as I refuse to spend more than £20 on something you only see the bottom of.

I think that yellow looks best. You could just have a false one. They just attact to buttons on the inside of the jacket it might already have them in place.
I've hunted in a tweed one with yellow waistcoat not totally correct i know but i looked smart and nobody told me off:D

I have a beautiful wool pikeur Diana jacket to sell. Was an eBay impulse buy that didn't fit, been sitting in my wardrobe for three years! Is navy, size 14, brand new with tags, anyone interested let me know. It's currently on eBay until tomoz nite with no sign of selling!

You can sew buttons on the bottom of the jacket and then just buy a false waistcoat (i.e. the bit that shows) - that is what a lot of people do as it is too bulky and hot to put a full waistcoat underneath.

Having said that, technically cutaways should not be worn unless you are riding sidesaddle, and definitely not for hunting ...

My impulse buys are bridles and we're not talking cheap ones either. Off the top of my head I currently have over 20 of which quite a few have never been used, regularly cleaned to keep them supple and nice :), but never worn. My OH doesn't know as he would go ape!:p

I am an absolute bugger for this too. There is just something about ebay!!

I buy really naughty things like saddles though! I have three sitting in my garage which never even get put on a horse :o

That and wool jackets. I have two tweeds and a navy wool one now. Hardly ever go to shows

And now I'm hopelessly interested in porkpie's Pikeur as well for dressage and show jumping as my navy is a Caldene and is more classically shaped than current dressage jackets!

Well I'll not mention when I went through my tendon boots phase, and have about six leather pairs (and one, lame horse! )......

I am still in this phase! Boots in general, but tendon boots in particular! I only have one pair however, that are way too good for day to day use but cannot bring myself to buy another, so expensive!

I do have a barely used navy show jacket though (from when I did showing a few times), and veredus piaffe boots though I picked the set up for about £4. Also a large amount of reins and ribbon browbands!

Sell it on ebay :) Never know, you might make a profit! ;)
