OH says goodbye to his goolies, as he tries to master rising trot *video*

:D:D Yes, very familiar! Think any of us who learnt to ride as adults took a while to rise properly and had sore bottoms (or worse for the men out there) because of it!

I was so proud of him though, for his first ever lesson he did ever so well. He's mastered steering and when he needs to use his legs (which is rather a lot on poor old bob) and he kept that horse going in trot all on his own, even after the instructor stopped running!

ooooh, that'll be childrens out of the picture for a while :o

Full marks to your OH for giving it a good go though

Think those of us who've been riding for years forget how difficult it is learning to 'drive' a car with it's own mind! Keep squeezing, sit up straight, heels down, pull on this rein and rise up and down with your horse - plus you're being filmed - nightmare really! Well done him!

I know, at 31 I'm so pleased he's finally decided to give it a go! I'd love for us to be able to hack together one day, in relative safety!

Think carefully before getting OH to ride - he may like it and where will that leave you? Shared horse and no groom. As I said, think very carefully about it.....;)

This is very true, I may lose my poo picker as he will be too busy riding, however I do have a fairly sensible ned who although out of work due to injury at the moment, fingers crossed will be back in work in the spring, and a nice gentle hacking life would suit her down to the ground, and he'll never want to sit on my other two so they can't be nicked :D

Bless. Well done him though. Looks like he was doing really well :)

Looks like a lovely RS too. Bob the cob seemed very genuine and their school is lush!

He'll be out hacking with you before you know it. I'm trying to get my OH to learn. I don't think I'll show him this though. Inspiring though it is I don't think it'll lay his mind to rest :D

This is OH doing his first dressage test (walk and trot)

I don't know how he stops my horse being in an outline only him and my mother can do it.
And it means he can 'hold' your horse while you go for a wee.

Well done to your OH takes a man to give it a go. If my OH isn't doing dressage he generally avoids trot where possible. Just walk and canter with the occasional jump when I'm brave enough.
Hope he carries on. Let him know that other men have looked just as bouncy at some point.

Good to hear other people's stories, I think he'll He'll get the hang of trot soon enough if he can bear it! That was one of three arenas we spotted at the RS on Sunday, it's huge!
OH said thanks for the support, he lives to ride another day! :)
