he's started wanting to come to the yard with me to look at the horses, has started carrying feed bags, helping me practice load my gelding and playing with him, turning out the mare without being asked, and is now talking about buying me another horse big enough so he can ride it occasionally....

I tihnk they jsut accept defeat after a while. Mine used to scream "no horse !" everytime i looked at the for sale pages of H&H...but now he's started asking me what I am planning to do with the horse when I get it, what competitons I want to go in for, what he needs to do as a spectator (keep our daughter quiet while i concentrate on my test is the main thing !), etc.

I think its super that he's even talking about getting his own horse so he can ride out with you ! Make sure you encourage him loads !

MY OH had never been round horses till he met me and took on the challenge - he's now hooked luckily my mare was already big enough for him to ride and our other pony is ok for me so it's great that we can get out and about together for long hacks and picnics.
