Oh... so THAT'S what a set of dead clippers and a half clipped horse look like...

I decided to give Holly her final clip of the year this evening and my clippers literally died when I had just started the second side... my lines aren't even tidied on the side I was done on :(

Not very good pics as my phone is rubbish at taken pics!

i had a similar experience last winter.... borrowed my friends clippers to do my boy, they died about 5 mins in and left him with one hell of a bald patch. had to stay like that for a few days until i bought another pair to finish off the job! cant post a pic of it as its saved in bitmap form from facebook..... (probably a good thing actually, poor boy!!)

I hate clipping! Once when I was a groom for some show jumpers they wanted this relatively new horse clipped before Hickstead. I did the usual turn the clippers on see if he reacts, nothing, ran them all over him so he could feel the vibration, fine. Started on his shoulder, got most of it clipped and he exploded!! Seriously climb the walls mental!! Couldn't get near him with a twitch on and couldn't sedate him as he was due to compete, so he went with a roughly clipped shoulder! Probably explains why he wasn't already done tho!! Lol!
( I also once dyed a grey horse light blue before a comp but that's another story!)

I guess the moral is it happens to us all, she doesn't look too bad from the pics tho!

I will take better photos tomorrow to hang on my wall of shame LOL

That must have been a nightmare! My big cob was the same you could get most of him done if you were lucky but he just randomly exploded and decided actually he had had more than enough clipping for one day!

Your mare looks very similar to our Welsh Section D mare who used to go to sleep when being clipped, even her face. Everyone at our yard didn't believe us until they saw it for themselves.

Also when desperate my daughter uses her stepfathers beard trimmer!!!!!! Good job he doesn't know :)
