I love this sort of thing. The best job I ever had was managing a biiiig equestrian centre, and my favourite thing about it was that we all still played like this. I remember a game on the polo ponies amongst staff one day of ‘whoever is the last person with a bridle on wins a bottle of champagne’ ?

Also snow days doing mounted games on our big hunter hirelings to keep them occupied.

Really I’m still a ten year old at heart and want to gallop around with my hands on my head ?

This is how kids learn to ride.
Our ponies spend some time being 'played' with after almost every ride. Jumping on and off bareback and having a little hoot up and down showing off is great for little rider's confidence... and their seat.

I still enjoy a bareback ride from time to time, and doesn't everyone drop their reins out on hacks to see how well they can communicate with the pony without? I certainly do.

I would kill for a pony to muck about on, but current ride gets very worried by any hints of silliness. @scruffyponies you're not looking to adopt an adult child anytime soon, are you? :D

We never knew what an indoor arena was when we were kids. Our pony adventures were getting lost up in the hills, swimming them in the sea and sneaking into the farmers fields for an illegal gallop.

I remember bareback wrestling in the school holidays back in the 70s/early 80s. The aim was to get all your opponents off their horse. Last one on a horse is the winner. Absolute chaos! How we and the horses didn’t get kicked, trodden on or injured I’ve no idea. We probably weren’t even wearing hats. No H&S
