Was in the school with Max this evening, when OH turned up to see me.
Now firstly i don't really like schooling, a) it bores me unless i have something to work towards, b) i don't like anyone watching me school as i am paranoid of my position, ability etc.

So anyway to create a diversion i said "give me a lesson"
How stupid am I!!??

We did all sorts, and although it was a good lesson, had a real giggle too, which i suppose relaxed me a bit.
I have been trotting with my eyes closed towards a cone to see how straight my riding is. Not very i have to add, lol. But got me more aware of my horse.
We worked on canter transitions, mine and his. Bend etc. By the end of the session, Max was working beautifully and was really soft.
I have a big grin on my face, but just know
I AM NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO WALK TOMORROW

Pointless post, sorry

My OH can just about walk, trot and canter but, oddly, he gives very good lessons! I used to ignore what he was saying but when I started to listen I realised that he was actually very accurate in his assessment of how my horse was going. He seems to have a certain intuitive grasp of what I should be doing to improve my horse's way of going although I still can't for the life of me figure out how he knows so much.

It is great, we spend a lot of time together at the yard. It is great to have someone to share the mucking out and poo picking, lol
There is nothing nicer than going on a hack together. OMG how sad do i sound.

My OH is coming along nicely as groom in training. Holds end of leadrope, and has learnt not to get toes trodden on. Holds stirrup for me to get on and knows that dressage is 2when they flick their toes up"?

FG, mine is rather like that. He can't ride to save his life, but he is uncannily good at spotting how we should be going, errors in position, etc. I have no idea how he does it, i think it comes from being a sportsman most of his life, he is just attuned to physical things.

My OH started riding 5 weeks ago, when I said I was going to sell my mare so we've had to get another horse so we can go out together.
