I use corn oil for weight and condition and to provide extra non-starch calories. I do NOT use sunflower or olive oil, can't remember why but I know they are not good. Cod liver oil = fish. Not really a natural foodstuff for horses, but I know people do use it. Soya oil is also good.
For joints, coat and general condition I also use cider vinegar.
FB has PremierFlex (probably with fish derivatives in it
Linseed for both reasons. Corn oil is higher in omega 9 fatty acids, which are pro-inflammatory, so not good for joint conditions. Linseed is higher in omega 3 and 6, wich are anti-inflammatory. If fed as an oil you only have to feed every other day. Or you could feed linseed as a micronised meal.
Any oil fed in large quantities for weight gain needs supplementary vitamin e in the diet too.

AH, very interesting teddyt. I will look out for linseed oil instead - although I fear it will not be easy to find over here....
