Oily feathers a d farrier

Whoops I have just oiled my cobs feathers yesterday for the first time and today I struggled picking her hooves out as everything was so slippery. I am worried as my farrier is due on Thursday to do a trim and he might not be able to do his job now when is so slippery.

It would be worth bandaging her feather so that the farrier can do what he needs to do.

Oil doesn't last that long on my cob's legs - it's Monday now so you might find by Thursday morning that they are almost back to normal, just silkier. Otherwise I'd definitely consider bandaging.

I use a length of tubigrip to keep the feathers out of the way for the farrier, just pull up and tuck the feathers in.

Extra large tubigrip does the job. It's good to use in winter when feathers are wet or muddy. Farriers will thank you for it.

Use some vet wrap or even better buy the same bandage but from another company as it'll be much cheaper.
