...first aid kit - you or your horse? I hurt my arm the other day and realised my first aid kit consists of two old plasters and an old unopened packet of lockets

Had to drive all the way to the yard with one hand and raid my horse's fully stock first aid tub and borrow some vet wrap, bandage and ducktape to keep it in place

I think I might have to do some 'me' shopping at some point

My lad has everything possible in his first aid kit except prescription drugs. It's kept at the yard & goes with us to every show. If we actually get injured we raid the horse's kit.

When I broke my finger down the yard...the vet was there and he did a great job of bandaging it up with gamgee and vet wrap!!! Unfortunately after operation and ages of it in a brace it has never gone right tho...

All I miss for my neds is the operating theatre! I have everything from sewing kits ( and the nec know how to use) bags of Ringers, Meflosyl, Finadyne to Animalintex. For me? Paracetamol, Deep Heat and a couple of tubes of Arnica.I do live on the yard so Im probably better equiped than most

I don't have a First Aid kit - I have a veterinary supplies shelf LOL!! I have pretty much everything which would help me see through most emergencies until the vet can arrive (often 4 or 5 hours later). I have vet prescription bute (both powdered and paste), penicillin, syringes and needles, antibiotics (of varying sorts), eye ointments, anti-fungal medication, Furacin, liquid cortisone etc etc.

So for horses I'm pretty well stocked; for humans I have bandages, plasters and a couple of other things....the most important thing in my kit is a car, to take anyone the 5 minutes needed to drive to the A&E at my towns hospital.

I have a full first aid kit that I keep in the car - it is mainly horsey supplies that can be used on humans (vet wrap, gamgee etc) although I do have plasters. I also have scissors, tape etc. If I keep it in the car, I can use it at home, the yard or anywhere else! I also make a point of restocking it if I use anything.

Definatly my horse, he has everything we would need in an emergency, but there are also plasters and painkillers in his first aid kit (human ones) - more than I have at home, I have no first aid kit at all at home.

My first aid kit is not good but very me, all it has is tampons and painkillers and some superglue???? The tampons did come in handy for plugging stud holes once though!!!

But yes the horse of course has eveything

Tack room is one big first aid kit, even have sterile saline ready in case of emergency! First aid kit in my care has one pathetic crepe bandage, some savolin and a finger stall, I think that's about it! I must update it!!!

Horsey first aid kit consists of bandages, purple spray, Dermoline cream, Animalintex, scissors, tape, a poultice boot etc etc etc. I barely have to use it *rapidly touches wood!*

but my own, well it is sorely lacking. Plasters in the kitchen drawer, pain killers in my bag & that's it!

Anyone noticing a pattern here with our first aid kits V horses first aid kits?!
grin.gif

Definitely 'ossy. So much so that when I hurt my ankle I had to nick a roll of vetwrap from his!
grin.gif

My first aid kit fits into a tupperware box. He has a a Derby House pre-packed kit plus a huge crate filled with all the "extras".

I have no human first aid kit.

When I cut my arm open a few months ago I had to send OH up the yard to bring me some of my horsey stuff home, I didnt even have a plaster or some antiseptic at home!
tongue.gif

I even patch my kids up with the horses first aid kit!!!!
Horses have everything, we have a couple of arnica tablets....that's if I can find them!
