And it's not me this time. Just a certain Mr. M. Todd who has entered the AI at Rolleston. I'm definitely going now. I'm too young to have seen him ride last time round! I beat Lucinda Green at Chatsworth (think you did too?) - I think I've just set you a challenge! We should start a new prize for 'people who have beaten their idols...!'

Ooh Ooh can I play???

I beat Mary King at showjumping indoors years ago. I came 3rd, she came 5th

Ok, so now you've upset me on two counts: 1) making me aware that the God that is Mark Todd is in my section when I needn't have known until the actual day, and 2) pointing out to me how young you are to have not seen him last time, ergo how old I am.

Do you wanna a stable for Rolleston or not?

Even I felt old from that comment - i've got MTs autograph from when he was on the circuit...I was all of about 10 maybe!

Grovel, grovel, grovel... Wasn't implying anything about your age honest!! Perhaps I should have said that I was too young to have competed against him last time round?
wink.gif
I can't believe that you could have got all the way to the competition though without checking the section lists! Yes I do want the stable still please (and a bed!)

Nope, you've still implied that I'm ancient, but as I'm all for encouraging younger people in the sport you can still have your stable and bed.

And yes, I could quite happily have got to the competition without checking the section lists, particularly as the Short Fat One is rapidly heading towards his first advanced and I'm feeling the pressure!
tongue.gif

OK then I promise I won't tell you about ANYONE else that's entered at all. You never know, if they get lots more entries they might run two sections then he might not be in yours (it's a long shot, but hey...).
As for encouraging the youngsters I bet I'm nearly as old as you

And if anyone's sticking their fingers in their ears and singing 'la la la' very loudly it's me. Intermediate? Pah, it's just an up-to-height novice *repeats loudly until convinced* (Baydale, replace with 'advanced' and 'intermediate').

Kerilli - I think we might need you to come. Sounds like some moral, emotional and physical support may be required (that or a good kick up the behind).
wink.gif

No-one is as old as me on this forum (you obviously missed that post ages ago).

Good thinking Gamebird, will try that tactic, along with the "I'm not nervous, I'm excited" line.

Kerilli could be Chief A**e Kicker that day, or Chef de Derriere if that sounds more impressive. However, I would think she'd be more likely to be swooning and fawning over MT than putting the fear of god into you and I.

I thought we worked out that I was older than you! Especially as I've just had a birthday.

I am old enough to have been employed to exercise Horton Point that Toddy won Badminton on (the horse was only a baby at the time)

Oh Thistle, I was trying to keep that quiet for your sake.
tongue.gif

Sorry I missed your birthday, I try to let mine pass unnoticed so I assume others of my era do the same.

Is HP still alive? He must be a bit older than my William.

Don't know if old Sid is still about, maybe I should email Toddy and ask him!

I was thinking of emailing him anyway, I would love to watch him work the horses and Eddy Stibbies yard is quite near us.

Did you read that he came up to Elms Farm (10mins from us) to do unafflicted dressage last weekend? If you're emailing then maybe ask if he'd like to do some teaching....

OMG, how cool would that have been to be there when MT appears?! Though prob wouldnt have impressed me if I was there competing

Don't tell everyone!! I'll never get a rosette again unless I resort to ripping them out of young childrens fists - although I would anyway if it was a red one.

Thistle - please email him, would love him to do a bit of teaching. I'm sure we could fill a mini clinic right here and now

ISZ has a theory, the scarier the test, the less people enter, and the more likely you are to get a rossette!!

I think that's a very sound theory.

But do you have the "guaranteed percentage" rule here? It means if there is only one or two riders prizes are allotted on the basis of the percentage. So it's possible to be the only person in the class and still not place . . .
