OK. Can you help me with the wording of my advert then, please?

I have never sold a horse privately before, and I am now bracing myself to have phonecalls at stupid-o-clock at night, people not turning up, lying about their riding/handling ability etc. But here goes.

This is the wording I have come up with so far on my advert. Can you improve on it please?

'Quality mw reg'd Sec D gelding. Very handsome glossy black cob. Fabulous confidence giving ride. Bombproof on the roads - he doesn't look at anything! He has given me my confidence back after having my baby. He hacks alone or in company. Very good to ride in open spaces. Has a lovely jump too. Never strong and is snaffle mouthed. In superb condition and ready to go to a lovely new home. Tack included. OIRO £3500.'

I've not done any pleasure rides, shows etc. Just schooling at home, lessons and lots of lovely hacks.

Suggestions welcome.

And age!

I would make it a bit shorter and sweeter, you can go in to more detail when people phone, ideal teenagers comp horse?

'Handsome black Quality Reg Sec D gelding. (*age height*) . Fabulous confidence giver. Make good teens Comp pony, Bombproof. hacks alone or in company. . bold jumper. Never strong, snaffle mouthed. In superb condition and ready to go to a lovely new home. Tack included. OIRO £3500.'

Oh, and I've put him in two categories on Horsemart - Cobs and Allrounders. Is that ok?

Other categories that would suit him and I could have chosen from were: Showing, Family, Mountain and Moorland

thanks

If he has competed sj/xc/dr/shown and proven to be worthy you might get more but if you want to sell asap, £3500 is about right

Have you not got a photobucket account?

Thanks Soph, no he's not competed, bless him. Think I'll stick to OIRO £3500.

I have no photobucket account. Far to tech for me! I have only just managed to upload the photos on horsemart page.

Price sounds about right to me - bombproof horses with that sort of breeding are a rare find. I wouldn't go any higher though if you are after a quick sale; that is enough to deter the numpties and not enough to deter genuine interest. If you were nearer I'd have a look, in spite of his breed!

Good luck!

He's very, very handsome. I hope you find the perfect new home for him... great ad...you should get lots of phone calls. Good luck.

I'm resisting the urge to come and buy him. I lost my old section D 4 years ago and as much as I love my new boy (an Irish Draught) I've always longed for another Welshie -especially a black one as mine was black and soo full of character. You're not even too far away from me to make it totally impossible...... Must not give in!
