Bargain hunt begins. I'm bored, both potential ponies I've liked have been a no unfortunately....so the search continues.

Must be a under £1000 project type.
15.2hh+
Absolutely no full TB's or cobs [Already have a cob youngster].
Rising 3 - 6 years old.
Ideally unbroken - don't even mind if unhandled.
To either show if suitable type. Or general competition type horse to jump open level local type classes when older [So 3ft6-ish.] No ambition for affiliated BSJA or similar! Just a nice looking, competitive enough for local/riding club level type horse.

:)

Why no full TBs? I don't want to sound like a weirdo but I do not understand this. Is a nice chunky NH bred TB really so different from some of the Irish horses out there?

You'd get more for your money if bought one as for some reason 'irish' is trendy at the moment and you pay well over the odds

I was reading a thread in 'Breeding' where the poster was asking how they could make sure that their mare didn't have a chestnut foal. I spent the whole thread thinking 'what's wrong with chestnut?' and trying to resist asking them why they are so chestnutist (if that's a word ;) ). It's a perfectly good colour for a horse to be. :)

A good horse is never a bad colour. So says my mother and I wouldn't dare argue with her. We all know how formidable she is! I love a smart chestnut with a big white face and big white stockings on all four legs, heavenly :)

ETS: that nice 2yo filly you posted (which is nice don't get me wrong) is twice the price of my nice 2yo TB filly, despite being very similar, just because mine is a TB. Where is the logic in that?!

I just don't want another TB I'm afraid. My older lad is a TB who's just gone to a friend for a bit and I just now want something with a bit more substance to it. My lad's 16.2hh and he's a NH type, but he still feels too 'light' for my liking. I'm 5ft 9ish and just prefer something with a bit more substance to it and that I can feel beneath me. It doesn't have to be Irish at all - I just don't want another TB or anything fine bred. My ideal horse now would be a mini middleweight hunter type stamp.

Furry muff :) As long as it isn't TB hating then it's all good by me. I will keep an ear to the ground in case anyone is selling :)

Sounds fair enough to me. It's interesting to know your reason though. :D

Nooo, I'm far from TB hating! My TB lad is a dream, safest horse on the yard but just isn't that competitive bless him! :D
