large towns and cities have more crime than more rural places?

Yes that seems to be a worldwide phenomenon. Thankfully I have spent the whole of my life in rural areas and could never imagine living in a town, so I guess I should stay safer for longer.

Funny you all should mention this point today!
I was watching the morning news and the subject was of two missing boys that were found alive. Although great news , John Walsh (if you do not know he is the host of Americas Most wanted and a child safety advocate) had the audacity to make this statement "Children are often targeted in small towns and rural areas where people are not as sophisticated"
Not as "sophisticated"??????????? I , like you Tia live in a rural area( and had for years as a youth)...I have also spent a fair amount of my life living in a bigger city. I happen to pride my rural neighbors on having social skills I never found in the city! A wave as you drive by, a smile and a "hello" when you see eachother. I had more people come to my house and welcome me when I moved here than I had ever had combined any place I had ever lived in the city! While these may not be measures of "sophistication" they are for sure measures of intelligent warm people. The highest form of being sophisticated imo. Funny how so many people in bigger cities have the impression of country/rural people being back woods, straw chewin, racist, dumb heads that run around barefoot listening to country music!!!!!
