Got my entry forms yesterday and im trying to weigh up if its worth me going all the way to Towerlands, plus the classes are pretty expensive. From the showing point of things (FMM) would it matter that i havnt got a showing saddle yet, although my saddle is a pretty decent looking black one???

Any things I can do to prepare and make sure she looks her best??

Thanks

Come to towerlands!

**FMC bounces up and down**

Which class are you doing?

I'd be interested about the saddle, also. I ony have a black KN dressage and black double bridle. To swap to brown would be quite difficult.

Yes what saddle would be preferable?! I ahve a black dressage saddle, or a brown bates jump saddle.... which would be pref to show in?!?!

i did search for a star with Blossy.

I used a black show saddle and a black double bridle - i also competed her at county level in black and she did well and noone marked me down for using black. If it goes with your horse then its not a problem.

You can use a dressage saddle, however a show saddle is prefereable. But i wouldnt go out and buy one just for the sake of one class.

What classes are you guys doing? Riding Horse?

black dressage with a black bridle - no numnahs underneath saddles tho, so you need to make sure your saddles fit nicely, also black leather girths to go with the saddle.

Yep both my saddles fit perfectly without numnahs! Hmm, will see what comes up this year....

You should use the straightest cut saddle you have (providing it fits well). We show all our horses with discrete numnahs underneath the saddle (they are the Courtlea sheepskin ones). Make sure your saddle is sitting in the right place - chances are you could push it back a few inches - most people have their saddles too far up their horses shoulders. Make sure the stirrups and leathers are of a suitable size for a male judge. Don't tuck your stirrup leathers into the surcingle straps.

You will not be marked down for having black tack, but in horse classes (ignoring coloureds and M&Ms) it is unusual to see black tack at county level. But for SFAS, they are quite capable of seeing past the tack issue and picking the best horse on the day. It obviously is even better if you have the best horse AND the right tack, but the right tack without the best horse isn't going to help that much!

Ok well I was thinking of just keeping what saddle I have for the actual class then seeing how we do...obiviously if the chance is that i qualify then i would by a showing saddle or somthing

Will prob do the Riding Club Horse class...and maybe the riding horse/hack but there are soo expensive to enter...
