I have no idea about the technical stuff and weather its possible or not, but there is enough of us on here that prefered the old forum, and its clearly being used less now, so many posts are not having any replys at all which is really unusual. Could Admin not just change it back?

I for one am getting very bored during the day now :D I dont like having to do work so i think something needs to change. What do you all think? Is it possible and do you think they would do it?
 
If they change it back then I'm off. I wonder what would happen if there was a vote for old style or new style? I hated the old style, but I haven't bothered joining in with "I hate new forum" threads because I don't hate it, and life's too short... There may be many others who like it this way doing the same.
 
They don't need to change it back - just tweek it so that the glitches are ironed out. The old forum kept falling over - hence the move to this new system. Speed remains an issue - mainly down to the google ads I suspect. But apart from that it's just a matter of getting used to something new (which people always find difficult).
 
For me it's much faster, there have been no glitches and the newly answered threads rise to the top, just as I had it on the old forum, search function is amazing!

Actually I think it would be amusing for Admin to leave it like this for a month, then change back to the old forum and watch the same people complaining now complaining when it reverted.
 
They won't be changing it back as this version offers so much more for everyone. Go and look in Suggestions and Feedback - there are answers to the most common problems in there. Also go to UserCP and paly with all the options until you have the forum set up the way you want it - simples.:)
 
I dont want it to go back the old format. I like social netwroking aspect to this forum too where we can have cool profiles and upload photo albums and things. I thnk its much better.
 
All it needs is an option that you can set under your user preferences to PERMANENTLY leave the posts in date of original post order. Then those that liked the old way will be happy (me included) and those that prefer it now will also be happy.
 
I'm the first to say I'm not a techie but the problems I have are,

Views / post updates missing or sticking

Editing a post is very hit n miss ( I still can't view before posting )

I can't see how you can enjoy/ gain advice/ etc from forum when the posts vanish so quickly

I think there should now be categories for advice needed / general observations /

Some of the really long threads are where spats or ' friends chatting' occur and are going to be at the top of the thread list but of little interest to anyone else not participating.

Those are my main gripes
 
my two gripes are that there are so few threads to a page, and that it would be useful if the default was for the threads to appear in the order that they were posted, if that could be addressed it would be much more useful / helpful to use.
 
Arrrrrggghhhh i can't reply to threads or read them when logged in at work all i get is a blank screen then the timer thing to say the page is loading so frustrating i am really fed up with it
 
There's always tweaks that can be made, im getting used to the new layout now, but come on it's a free forum less moaning needed im thinking!! People will get used to the new Layout & ways of doing things.

I personally Think admin are doing a great job & have kept things going really well & very smoothly for such a big board & migration.

Ditto, I think this would make me learn to like it more.
 
I much prefer it how it is now as it has a proper search function.

I think most people had the old forum set up to move threads with replies to the top anyway so I prefer that being the default.

I agree ^^

Give it a chance - loads of people moaned about the old forum to the point where Admin changed to this. Now loads of people are moaning about this - and it hasn't even been live for a week yet:confused:

There are a few glitches, for which there is plenty of help being offered. I think people should remember it's a FREE forum which I for one find to be a very cheap form of entertainment:)
 
I do think it needs to have more posts viewable per page in the lounge. I have it set to 40 posts per page but this only works once you are in a thread not on the thread lists, this would stop a lot of them getting lost, though tbh, they are mostly lost if they arent of interest to anyone viewing and not getting any replies.
 
I know change is sometimes weird and stuff, but I honestly don't see the problem. I MUCH prefer this layout. it's so much easier to use.

Unfortunately I don't think it's a case of just flicking a switch to change it back to the old style ;)

I imagine a hell of a lot of time was spent in the background preparing for the changeover, I don't think Admin will be changing it back any time soon!

A hell of a lot of time,but not necessarily a hell of a lot of thought.The "order of last posting " as default is a major fault.
 
Am I the only one who now can't access the forum?? I can get into the main page but when I click to read a post it just freezes then crashes Internet. I am all for change but not if it means I can't actually access it.

I ran a Poll some time ago asking this question. The majority of voters prefer the threads to be shown in Order of making Thread.

Apart from this, tweaking makes the board very good, and no matter how many members ask, it will not be reverted to the old format, where Admin were always getting complaints about it!!
