OK, showing in-hand - do I or don't I?

Would it be cheaper for me to kit myself out - hat, jacket, shirt, tie, trousers (have boots), cane - OR pay someone to turn up on the day and show him for me? Also, it is highly likely that I will need to re-kit myself out, as am loosing weight at a decnt rate again.... I only plan on doing 3 shows at the most, most likely only 2 and all will be county level. Thoughts on a post card please!
 
It would probably be cheaper to pay someone to show him but it does mean you miss out on the fun and he will be shown by someone he may not know so may not show at his best.
 
Depends how much of the kit you could borrow maybe. Then you could save your money for a new outfit when you reach target weight.
Tweed jacket would be the expensive bit, trousers/shirt/tie etc I am sure could be done cheaply from ebay etc.

He was VERY good at his first outing last year (east od england) with then YO, who a) hardly knew him and b) was terrified of him

He didn't put a foot wrong (apart from pricking a foot and going lame, but that's by the by) - in the space of a couple of hours, he saw heavy horses in harness, steam engines, the hunt and livestock - including a Belgian Blue bull, that he was convinced should talk horse

But, having said all of that, what you say, is my main worry - though I wouldn't find it fun, but VERY stressful. I'm better behind the scenes!
 
True - but if I do it myself, then I also have to fight the nerves - I think that is the real issue!

LOL - Yes but that applies to ALL clothing and underclothes - it's expensive business losing weight!
 
But you're going to have nerves anyway even if you are standing watching (well I do anyway watching OH jump), so why not have them in the ring then you get the satisfaction of showing H to his best.

But I sweat when I'm nervous - I think I've been going through the menopause since the age of 8 lol!! I also don't my nerves to affect his lordship.

There's nothing like the satisfaction of taking your baby in yourself and I actually feel more nervous watching as you're powerless to help.
So I say go for it, you know you want to!

I too have a jacket that you can borrow/buy if you want but it depends on how much you've faded away, it might be too big! You're very welcome to try it..........green tweed with neat green overcheck, double vented.
 
You only need a tweed jacket that is "special" equipment. The rest of the gear is a shirt and tie (oxfam etc), gloves (which you should already have), a pair of smart, straight cut trousers ( assume you wear trousers as you are horsey!), jod boots.

If someone will lend you a jacket, then do it yourself - far more fun than watching.

And if you want to go to Sandon let me know, I know them all well! As used to live there, now live 2 miles away.

Going there is a unique experience best tackled with someone who knows where to find everything.
 
I picked up a nice tweed for a fiver from a charity shop for showing, got some chords in a sale, then use by johndpur boots, a hat i got a few years ago and a cheap shirt and tie, and i was done. Mum had been dreading it, i'd been looking at really nice jacketsand waistcoats...
But then i got myself all kitted out for showing my chestnut shetty, i was wearing greeny browny shades, is this ok for a grey?
 
My expensive bit was my jacket, my trousers were some beige ones for £8 from a cheapie shop, beagler was from ebay (but had it a few years back for dressage). I got my in hand bridle and showing cane from ebay too.

Bought my 2yr olds in hald bridle this year for £25 new, and its lovely!!

If you want to enjoy watching, get someone else, as much as I enjoyed taking my chap out, I was bl00dy knackered after running round!

Is this for H or the new one??
 
I'd get the stuff cheaply and do it yourself! my in-hand trousers are from a charity shop and so is the shirt & tie. To be honest if its local showing I'd scour charity shops for tweed jacket or waistcoats. A shirt and waistcoat can look very smart.

I can't quite explain my nerves though - it means so much to me, that I shake when he does well - I was all teary eyed when he won at Royal Norfolk - can you imagine if I did that in the ring
