what has everyone forgotten to do at the yard/with their horse?

Just wondering as bought the horses in last night and I have to tie Monty up in his stable to change his rugs otherwise we do 10 laps of the stable

Changed his rug then we had to go for a wander around our field to assess the 'swamp situation'.
Got back and there was Monty stood, tied up in his stable, looking at me as though to say ' dippy, you left me tied up how am I supposed to wee

I forgot to pick James feet out the last week - and felt dreadful all night, and once many years ago I forgot to take his tail bandage off and had to go back at midnight to remove it!!!

I have forgotten my riding hat and wandered off across the yard on horseback a few times.

My friend was looking after my horse and she forgot to stick his water bucket in his stable one night

- she did then head back down the yard about half 9 in the evening when she remembered!

Forgot to take my girth to a dressage!! Husband ending up chatting up a 6 foot blond model and borrowing hers so we were all happy in the end!!

I found my mare grazing happily in a very muddy field in her stable rug because YOs husband had forgotten she was staying in that day, and hadn't noticed she still had her PJ's on.
Thankfully she was only out a couple of hours, and hadn't rolled, but it was strange walking down the field, knowing something wasn't quite right with the horses I could see, but not realising what until I got close

I can't think of anything I've forgotten, but that's cos i'm so paranoid I'll forget something that I triple check everything before I go home

I forgot to put May's night rug on a few weeks ago, she had been in her lightweight stable rug and I did'nt even realise I forgot to change it until I went down the next morning! Felt really bad - but I was ill that weekend!

My friend (erm well ex friend!)

brought my horse in and forgot to take her boots off, the mare lost the hair where the boots had been and they grew back white. I wasnt very happy.

Two of my liveries also forgot to turn the generator off the other week, it was on all night!!

Forgot to say that when Jam first started having breakfast a few months back, the 1st morning I came to deal with him, after nagging everyone else mercilessly I forgot to give him his breakfast!!!!! He's so not fussed by food that he didn't create or remind me or anything!!! I'm such a bad Mummy!

I'm constantly forgetting to shut my mares stable door!
blush.gif
She's so well behaved it isn't so well ingrained in my mind as it is for my WB!

I have also once forgotten to go to the yard at all!
shocked.gif
I remembered about 3 hours after I should have gone
blush.gif

I had to ring my dad (horse was at his house) and ask him to bring her in for me....oops! (there was a reason for this - I can't remember why but something happened - I'm not an Evil Mum really

)

Was looking after friends horse last week and we would do all the stables, hay and water before bringing them in. Then do rugs and feet then feed them all. Only we kept forgeting to feed the poor mare until we would turn round to check all kick bolts and see her stood there
blush.gif
By the end of the week she had learnt to call for her dinner

I've forgotten to bring the horses in! It was over Christmas and I keep the horses at my Mum and Dads, I'd spent about 2 hours mucking out, doin all general duties etc whilst the horses were in the field and had just finished and was about to fetch them in when my mum shouted me into the house for a brew. I knew i'd finished the stables so once i'd finished my brew I hopped in the car and drove home- thought nothing of it until about 11pm when my dad rang in a major panic. He always takes the dogs out for a wee at bed time and checks the horses are all ok, he'd gone to the stables and they weren't there!! So at half 11 at night I was searching the field in the pitch dark for my neddies who'd gone to the furthest corner and couldn't hear us shouting (or at least were pretending they couldnt). Won't be doing that again in a hurry!!

-Forget to shut the stable door
-Neglect to put the girth back on after tack cleaning
-Wondering into the tack/feed room and completely forgetting what I went in there for
-Giving breakfast again instead of dinner
-Gone to catch a horse without a headcollar
-Neglected to close the gate behind me after feeding the goat (I've never seen one move so fast - much chaos ensued)
-Caught/tacked up and untacked/turned out the wrong horse entirely
-Turned out with brushing boots on
-Turned out in the wrong field

The usual.

Have enthusiastically mucked out before [image shavings flying everywhere] and they had gone in her water drinker, and at the time I though must scoop them out ..... got 3/4 of the way home and realised I hadnt scooped them out. Had to text YO to get her to scoop them out for me, as I live quite a way from the yard!

I did forget to tack tack once to a show! Luckily, it was local so dad rushed it to us. One day I swear Ill forget the horse!

I have also forgotten to shut a gate properly which meant it blew open (this was only about 2 months ago), my 2 bigger horses jumped off the steps (its like a human-only gate bit) and the main gate was open too because Id driven in with feed, so they cantered out into the road!! OMG I almost died with panic. Thank god a car came and its lights spooked them back my way (it saw them and stopped) so I managed to shoo them back in. Bloody hell though!

Wasn't me but a lady arrived at my yard once for a Le Trec competition without her horse!
grin.gif
Returned to her yard to find him standing tied up where she'd left him in full travel gear munching on his haynet and looking at her as if she was a loon. Never really quite understood how she managed it - you'd think she'd feel that the trailer was a bit light. Obviously had other things on her mind.

not closing the stable door & horsey going walkies...

*sigh* - I did the same with my share horse - well at least we assume I did... We were in the feed room playing with brand new CCTV camera when friend noticed his neck was a lot further out of the stable than he could normally reach... and then we watched on the screen speechless as this horse just walks out of his stable to go and raid neighbour's feed bins opposite!
tongue.gif
shocked.gif

We both ran out to grab him but were both so crippled by laughter that she collapsed with laughter half way there and I was hanging from his headcollar like a pea (and I'm not small or light!) half straddling the bins with only one foot on the floor, completely not having any effect on him and unable to breathe for laughing, for AGES!!
grin.gif

luckily he didn't actually get into the bins

Yes done that too, also wear a woolly hat at yard (as always have a bad hair day) have got on horse with it on (yard policy you must wear hard hat when mounted) rode for 10 mins then went DOH! Felt stupid as had to get off walk all the way back to the stable tie horse up and go and get my hat!

Also my riding hat is sooo comfortable I then forget to take that off and think I am still wearing my woolly hat, went to get into car the other week and banged my head on the roof at my head was higher than normal!
OMG if I had a brain i would certainly be dangerous!!!!!

Can't believe I have just admitted to all that!

My instructor made me wear spurs for a lesson so I forgot they were on. Driving home went to move my foot onto the break and spur was caught ont he carpet and stuck to the accellerator. Luckily it wwasn't a busy road and I flew through the juction whilst puling my leg free with one hand.

I have forgotten to close the field gate, horses got out about 2 in the morning, all i could hear were hooves going across the yard and into the mother in laws garden oops! So i'm then a lovely sight trying to round them up in my PJ's
blush.gif

Ummm forgotten i've still got my riding hat on and banged my head on numerous things (usual saddle racks bizarrely!), walked all the way to my car in the dark and realised i still had mud covered muckers on - had to go back and change into my trainers, forgotten girth, sticks, boots, brakes and gawd knows what else at shows, had to get horses in with just a leadrope as have forgotten they didn't have a headcollar on... umm...
blush.gif
am sure i will think of more! Can be a bit of a disaster zone sometimes!
blush.gif

LOL I'm trying sooo hard not to laugh as my boss is next to me
smile.gif

I once left my body protector on, went to get in the car and knocked myself out coz I couldn't bend properly
grin.gif

I used to ocasionally forget to put my hat on, but after riding a few loonys, youngster and a horse very cold backed I dont think id ever forget it now!

I have forgotten to take the tail bandage off b4 and just put the horse out for a few hours!!
blush.gif

I got on my pony in the barn once (really wide aisle) and as I was riding through the arch I forgot to duck and whacked my head off the top of it and nearly fell off
