OK so what do the larger ladies among us wear for showing/hunting etc?

I have gained weight over the last couple of years as I was in intensive care after having pneumonia and because I was very active before that and the rehabilitation was very long, I became depressed and really quite ill, hence weight gain. Normal shop-bought jods were always OKish, although I am very tall and coupled with an already curvy figure (never fat though at that point!), they weren't great.

When I gained weight my jods obviously became too small and frustrated with the choice in shops, I found plus rider who made jods for larger people. Again, I'm still not mahoosive but the shop jods seem to come up quite small. This was fine but it looks like plus rider has closed down so no more jods from her!

Also, she always had a note on her website saying 'showing jackets coming soon' but they never came! Sadly, my size 16 showing jacket hardly fits one arm these days, never mind supplying me with enough material to harness my huge bazookas! So where do people get showing jackets from if they are bigger than the UK 16 and/or have a very large/quite large chest!? It seems odd to me because I do see people on the showing circuit who are the same size/similar size/bigger than me and they are all nicely turned out in showing gear. Same at hunt meets.

What does everyone else do?

Have you looked for the Fuller Fillies brand.

Im also tall 5 feet 8 and half inches and a size 16 clothes but I find horses clothes a tight fit and have to go for a larger size especially in jackets.

Thank you very much

R H Mears Bramham cut tweed jacket ( thier main stoccists will order in your tweed and size of choice)
Equitector long leather boots ( elastic ether side of zip)
Cavalry collection breeches
Try menswear depts for pastel shirts

Thank you lucyglitters. When you say they don't fit as well do you mean they come up smaller? Or you end up looking like a sack of spuds?

I am just really sad about Plus Rider stopping trading as it was such a good service and really quick as well! Such a shame.

Thanks all

Try "cavaletticlothing.com" they have a range of jackets, jods etc in larger sizes. I can recomend the Mears jackets and the Equitector tweed too. You could phone them as they are very helpful and have sourced clothing for my daughter who is 6ft tall and a larger size. Also for a bespoke tweed jacket try "designerbrowbands.co.uk".My daughter has just had a tweed made to measure from them. There are companies out there that can supply plus size clothes and somtimes it is worth paying a bit more to have them made.
