I probably would have done exactly what that poor girl in the video did - tensed up, clung on using anything I could - and half-heartedly tapped the thing in order to obey...

However, when the lunge whip came into the equation I'd have burst into tears, got off the horse and led it back to the stable to untack whilst resolving never to ride again

In reality, though it would have depended if it was my horse or an RS horse. on RS horses, I generally try & obey the instructor's wishes; on my own horse, I 'interpret' the instructions to something I'm comfortable with and am much more likely to refuse to do something.

It's different when you've had horses for years and you're paying for training with your own horse. As a student at college, it is very hard to tell your instructor you think they're a knob head, you have to be a bit more diplomatic.

Hahaha, I like instructors that shout, and then I shout back. You haven't heard shouting till you've heard me and mine swearing at each other!
