Ok so what would you pay for 4/5 year old???

I am selling my current horse, and we want to buy a new one but not spend all the money we get for my one. We want to build lunge pen/ walker and are going to use the left over cash for doing sothis makes sense!)

So my question is what would you pay for a nice 4/5 year old, which would jump at around the 1.25ish mark later in its career, oh and careful. So MUST have jumping ability. Must only be around the 15.2hh mark.(as im a short arse!)

I think i might be being abit general and wishy-washy with what i want!

So come on you lovely people what do you think?
 
I would guess you would be looking at quite a bit of money for that maybe around £6-7K but may be way off the mark, dont do SJ!!

Probably more than you would pay for a 7/8yo who could jump 1.25's

Prblem is, people are asking for money for 'potential' in younger horses, and if you are certain it will jump 1.25's by then, a lot of people will be thinking it can go higher.
 
Well you say 1.25 later in career so i presume you just want a youngster that needs bringing on but has jumped and showing potential? In which case depending on breed etc i would be looking around the £3500 marker. Could be more or could be less, it depends what breed your looking for, after all i know of foresters who can clear that big but im presuming you want something more like a warmblood etc.
 
Well my other horses jump around 1.20/1.30ish but on is injured so will be out for a year ish so i would have the time for something younger. Yes would prob want a warmblood.
Would like something to do the age classes on.
 
Wouludnt pay too much for something that wasnt proven, as you never know. Depends on breeding and budget etc - because you can pick up some unproven Irish horses for example for around £3k - we have a horse out of Senang's watermark who was around that mark and he is jumping 1.25's

Or you could go down the pink papered route for which you will pay ALOT of money.In this case I think it is best to get a mare as if it goes wrong at least you have the chance of breeding.
 
I'd say about 4/5k for one with the back work in my step mum has just purchased Freddie and paid £4500 he's five and will do what you'd like - but a little too big.

However i only paid £1000 for my mare straight from a racing yard as a 4 yo and she's now doing 90cm courses (she finished racing in august and i got her in september) - She has some jumpin pedigreee but was a flat racer. But she is th perfect size for you at 15.2Hh

It depends how much work you want already in and how much you can put in.
 
I would guess your gonna be paying 4-5K at LEAST for that, maybe 6-7 or more as something suitable to age classes tends to command a higher price.
