I am all black, apart from the tasteful white paint on side and tail where I decided to help paint the barn. I'm thickset, with a heavy doublecoat and about 24" tall, the whippersnapper with me is 3 months old to give you a vague idea of size. My mother looked like me but was creamy coloured. Any ideas? Thanks

Ohh yes, I see what you mean, I forgot about them. I've always liked that breed, unusual aren't they in that the female is bigger than the male?

I forgot to mention that this dog, Rip, came with the farm when we bought it, so we've only known each other a couple of weeks. He's a great softy and brilliant with the puppy, he adores my daughter and waits with her at the end of the drive for the school bus, he's just gone up there now so the bus must be coming down the road.

Hi, when we came to view the farm we knew one of the dogs was staying and liked this one best, so were really pleased when we found out they were leaving him. He was born here and has never been off the place apart from vet visits I was told, as they were travelling to Alberta and hadn't a place to go to I think they thought it was too much to take him across Canada with them.

I love him to bits, just curious as to what people think he might be, all I know is that he's not a lab or newfoundland!

My 1st dog Buster (RIP) looked similar. He was a Springer Spaniel cross. Dad thought to be Black Lab from down the road - Pedigree mum got out when in season, her owners were furious (espicially when she had "ten useless puppies"

- Their words not mine). Anyway he had a lovely temperment, will post a pic when I'm not at work!!!

Hope you have fun with him.

erm....not true I'm afraid ...the breed standard for Italian Spinone says :

Dogs : 60-70 cms , weight 34 -39 kgs

Bitches : 59 -65 cms , weight 29 -34 kgs

the only breeds where the bitch is bigger than the dog are some very small toy breeds where bitches are kept biger to facilitate breeding ( such as in Yorkshire terriers)

Oops sorry milor, that'll teach me to listen to what I'm told. The woman bred them , she must have been pulling my leg, gullible as always.
