She's in at the moment, so need to know before I turn her out!!!!!!

Don't have any pig oil but could get hold of some - but is baby oil just as good?

She hasnt got any mud fever yet but would be interested in knowing what to do to prevent.

You want to use some thick barrier type creams, I would just use vasoline but uddercream works too, but you must wash it off and reapply everyday.
Just use this around the coronet band up to a few inches over the fetlocks, if your horse has loads of feathers you will really need to work whatever you use in so it gets to the skin.
If the feathers are really thick I would personally clip or trim them shorter if you are not showing her, this will make your job easier and you will be able to see the skin easier and therefore treat immdiately. You may not spot small scabs developing under lots of hair.
You shouldn't need to do anything to the mane and tail as she should have enough natural grease built up, baby oil would be fine to use though, you would only need a small bit worked into the areas you are worried about and reapply if it rains heavily.
Hope that helps :-)

Um - you cannot get mud fever in the mane or tail.

As for her feathers - well I wouldn't worry unless she has a problem with mud fever. If it aint broke - dont fix it....
