ok, what do you we think of this horse??

I think he's quite sweet but needs some condition on him. They say he's a registered ISH but to me he looks very TB to me. Also sounds a little bit too good to be true for the money. Not sure I would travel that far for him if you do decide to travel all that way make sure they send you some video's of him schooling, jumping and hacking in traffic. Make sure he is what they say he is otherwise it's going to be very costly and time consuming travelling all that way. Good luck :)
 
Welll he has a blue passport which means not much of his breeding is known. The advert did smack of someone who had not had him for very long actually and there is little fact but a lot of opinion.

As someone else has pointed out this IS a dealer, I would research them first. I would also ask for a video.

I am also shortly going on a similiar round trip - again. but have seen lots of photos, long conversations, and said horse has been (proven!) with the current owner for 5 years. I would definately look into yours a little more closely before making that journey too.. on a more positive note, as they are dealers - ask them what else they have you can look at as well..
 
Any chance you'd be interested in a 16hh spotty :p I must say i personally prefer the chestnut although that's really only based on looks lol, but i agree that it doesn't look very happy with his mouth.
 
 
If I was you, I'd go and see him and ask the dealer what else he's got that might suit and try a few while you're there. You might as well make the most of the long journey.
 
I done a 4 hour trip to look at my mare and only went on an ad in the paper and a phone call. Yes this may have been stupid but I had seen so many lame, unfit horses and took a chance!
I arrived and she needed work but was well within my budget, I did get her vetted though which I would highly recommend whatever you do buy. I now have a beautiful mare that with a bit of TLC has turned into my horse of a lifetime! Sometimes you have to take a risk to WIN BIG!

He looks nice, gentle and if your willing to put time and effort in his jump could improve and so will his condition plus you will have a deep bond like me and my mare now! I would have travelled anywhere for the right horse!!

Moving away from the thread slightly, what is a blue passport? My boy has a blue passport and I know back quite a few generations, confused.com... :D can anyone explain please.

If you like the look of him I think you should go, but bear in mind its a long way to go back for a second viewing so you probably have to make up your mind there and then - I did a four hour round trip to get my boy and his brilliant - joe public can be as tricky as dealers in my experience.

Maybe find another couple of horses you could go and see en-route so if his not as you would hope you have something else you could look at which may cheer you up!
 
seems like a common type of horse that you could probably find nearer to home - i wouldn't really bother going that far. It's also a dealer selling so would put me off.
 
Far too many alarm bells. Why so cheap for 8 years old ISH? Great age for navicular. Dealer at the low end of the market, surely you can find one nearer you? Why such a novicey jump for an 8 year old? I certainly wouldn't travel that far to a low end dealers yard with a lousy arena surface that would hold any horse down!

Before you go check -

has he got an original passport (he looks to me like he could be a repassported ex racing TB)?

Is he open to vets with a blood test?

has he got clean legs and wind?

has he got any vices?
