I had just about got through the post when it was pulled.

I am very unhappy that a kind lady who offered to care for horses for a couple of days has had weeks of work; is financially out of pocket and has had a pasting on this Forum.


While GTF says she was not DEFAMATORY just telling the truth, I would like to know why she went in under cover is she wanted to do her bit for equine welfare.

Skywards is the innocent victim in this and should have an apology on this forum from ERF. WHW would not indulge in this sort of mudslinging.
 
I tried to reply but your box is full. Yes I toggled it however I have deleted it now. To be honest there wasn't much more said after you left - just a bit of bickering and some names being dropped by our new members.

Um that is standard investigative practices. That is exactly what I do too when I believe a horse is in real danger. Hardly likely to say "Oh can I have a look at your severely emaciated horse please!" You obviously haven't dealt with abuse cases before?
 
I don't accept that. She could have acheived more by offering a helping hand. THAT is always the first action of a WHW welfare officer. I know because I have taken one of their officers to see three horses I was concerned about in the UK.

AND by the way i always approached the owners before contacting a Welfare Officer.
 
In France it seems to be a different story. I have heard all too often that when queries are made about a horse in poor condition, said horse vanishes before further enquiries can be made. I know for sure that if I had given prior notice to Chantelle's carer this is what would have happened.

For what it's worth I think GTF did EXACTLY the right thing.
 
A welfare officer turns up because they have the legal right to go onto someones property without permission. A member of the public cannot. I have no idea how this admittance was offered.

GTF did a sight more than anyone else on this, or any other forum, for this horse.
 
Rollin - please don't let your disagreements with GtF on another forum spill onto this one.

It is quite clear why we had to go undercover - we were hardly going to see 'real life' by announcing a welfare visit were we?

We have spent a significant amount of time with the safe haven now and they fully understand that we were investigating the bigger picture - this is just one step of an investigation that has taken us over 18 months. At no point did we name the SH or identify them in any way - their supporters did that for them. If you look at our original pictures, they were of the hind legs of a horse in a stable which could have been anywhere.

The safe haven have now asked that we act on their behalf with the rescue forums so I think this clearly shows that they do not bear any grudge but understand the importance of this investigation and how they have been misled by the other parties.

this is a massive step forward...

can you now ensure that the SH owner will get some much needed remuneration too?
 
Dammit why couldnt it have just been edited. Thats a dreadful shame as clearly this particular thread was doing a great deal of good to publicise some of the less rosy parts of the equine world.

Could someone please let me know if venus made an appearance at the safe haven and if there is any further news on malagas situation.

It has no relevance to this case. Don't forget I live in France I see what goes on here.

Am I right in thinking that you are the neighbour to Skywards? If so, what did you do to help the emaciated creature?

GTF disagreed with the issues surrounding the so called safe haven. Why is that wrong...she went , she saw, she told it as it was. Sorry Rollin, you may live in France but why does that give you the low down on what GTF actually did???
 
Rollin - you may live in France but on another thread you have asked me to provide you with research for 'a friend' which is easily available to anyone with Google and a knowledge of French.

As I said before - we're pleased to have been of assistance, however it seems strange that you ask for our help on one hand and then criticise us rather bitterly on the other...
 
Spaniel - it was mentioned on the pulled thread that Venus didn't arrive today but 'transport' is arriving tomorrow. We are worried that they may try to move Malaga. GtF has spoken to Venus and we now await her confirmation of what is planned.

Happens here too, horses flagged up to SSPCA, she went in , no-one home, left card, horses vanished but hopefully owners did get a suitable wake up call!!
 
ERFinFrance - thank you for the update.

As I have said already, I think this will end badly. I do intend to PM admin in the morning to ask that the thread be reinstated with suitable edits - this cannot be shoved back into the shadows for everyones sake.
 
I will keep you up dated, also about the others.All are fine.Only one in is Malaga,She is in a huge stall 28 by 16 feet.overlooks the middle of the barn and outside so plenty going on to keep her amused.I wont get into slagging etc etc but will up date you on how she is going on.WITH PHOTOS>
 
I have already PMd Admin to ask for the thread to be reinstated (minus the name mentioning and bickering) - I think there was a lot of valuable advice and information on it.

Anyone else who is interested in this, would you mind PMing Admin too? Thank you.
