...where do I find a good instructor, with a lovely, kind schoolmaster, who can get me back into jumping??? :D:D:D

D1 will be working with Dizz whilst I'm off, especially on the jumping front. D1 has exams in November (she needs A*s, so will be working hard!), and I don't want Dizz too fit when I get back on, so we have the Dizz angle covered :D

It just leaves me to find a good instructor :D

I'm near junction 25 of the M1 and happy to travel to get to the right one.

Think I'll post this in Comp Rider as well...

I have an AMAZING jumping schoolmaster... but I'm about a gazillion miles away from you! If you're ever in the Cotswolds, Roy boy and I would love to give you a hand! (No morags.. I promise :) )

You sweetie :D :D :D Thanking you so kindly :D. I will have to come just to meet your morags, figuratively speaking you understand :D  :D. Actually I'd probably only have eyes (and carrots!) for the Roy boy :D

I'm happy to oblige MrsM, if I have anything suitable in at the time, but I'm not that close either ;)
What sort of level are we talking?

Thank you sweetie :D :D :D. Will come just to see you and drink hot choccy :D

As to level. Hm. I used to jump big and wide, but that was when I was young and slender lol. I'm pretty much novice... here's some pics from before I came off...

Dizz is new to jumping as well, so between us... :D. She can put in some biggies (even D1 gets left behind, so I feel a bit better about it lol).

I'm no good at counting strides in, etc., I'm still at the 'Dig knees in! Lean forward! Grab mane! Sit up!' stage :D :cool:

you're welcome to come and have Ron teach you about jumping! ;) but we're not very close either!

your basic position over a fence isn't too bad, but it looks to me like you need some good oldfashioned grid work, on a horse that isn't too worried about what youre doing, so you can concentrate on your balance.

And another thank you :D :D :D

Yes, my balance has been an issue. I have a good innate sense of balance (if I hadn't I'd have come off much sooner!), but in general I'm not really sure where everything is meant to go... I do think 'Knees in! Grab mane!' when I'm coming into a jump and that is about it - I grab her mane so's I don't sock her in the mouth :(

I was trialling a different saddle, whilst awaiting my potential new forward cut with nice rolls to be made, and I could not get my knees in on the day I came off; I found it much easier in the original saddle.

Given how little jumping I've done (since I was about fifteen lol), I was chuffed that I wasn't an absolute complete failure, just a semi-one lol

Well I don't live far from you and I have lessons at Barleyfields, near Etwall, they have a few decent jumping horses there and some pretty good instructors too. PM me if you want some inside info on the better instructors and horses.

I'd also recommend Donna and Richard at Lake View in Borrowash but I'm not sure whether they have any horses that you can use.

I'll second the recommendation of Donna at Lake View. I swapped to have lessons with her a few months ago and the difference in my riding is amazing, can't praise her highly enough. If you google Donna Bates she has a website.

ETA: Have postponed the Foremark joly until you're mended so you've got that to look forward to as well :D

If we are talking about basic jumping stuff and getting confidence/your eye in, Mabel would do for you. She's a reliable if a bit thick Paddy, who does anything not to lose her passengers:)
If you're up for it, give me a shout when you are ready and we can organise something.
