I've got an old Butet XC saddle that's been sitting around that I was thinking about off-loading as it hardly ever gets used and I've got another newer one that I use much more. It's about 12 years old and in reasonable nick - do they hold their value and I'm wondering how much I should ask for it? Could stick it on Ebay and see what happens but if it was going to go for peanuts then I'd rather keep hold of it for the rare occasions when I actually have two going out at the same time. Any thoughts?

Depends what you mean by peanuts :) I've been half on the look out for an older, and thus cheaper, Butet jump saddle for a while. I've seen them go for as little at £750 but they didn't take long to sell at that and they were still in decent condition.

I've had a Butet dressage saddle with Sederholm Select for AGES to sell and it seems there's no interest. Am thinking of taking it back and putting it on Ebay. It's put me off selling my hardly used Butet jumping saddle that no longer fits my horse. At least the dressage one I bought second hand.

I bought mine about 4 years ago as an 8 or 9 year old fairly scruffy saddle but still paid low four figures for it. Annika from Sederholm checked it over for me the other week and said it was completely sound and functional and would probably do me until I retired from eventing :)

They do seem to hold value extremely well. Have a look on the sederholm page as they have a fair selection of them second hand with prices. Also worth looking on Saddles Direct for an idea of price.

Personally I'd wait until February time or so to sell as expect there'd be more interest as will be closer to the event season.
