Does anyone know a good home (charity or non money making) for rugs which are the wrong size, etc?
I'm not interested in selling them, but would like them to be useful to someone now that my youngsters have outgrown them.

http://www.trallwmfarm.org.uk this charity always need rugs and bits of unwanted tack as unlike some other charities the horses go out on loan with a full wardrobe please look into it as its not as well known as some of the bigger charities i think you are doing a really nice thing giving away your unused rugs and thinging about charities first

I think you will find that any charity would be happy to have them, even non horse charities, who can sell them on to local horse owners and raise a few £'s

Any Charities, and also Local RS's will always appreciate things like that, I work and keep pickle at a RS and they do occasionaly get given things which are greatly appreciated

Thanks everyone for your ideas.
I'm going to attempt to contact the charities you have mentioned (closest first) to see if they want them. If not, I'll accept some of your kind offers to donate (to charity) for them (but first I'll have to work out what sizes they all are LOL!)
I just hate things not being used for some benefit.
Thanks again.

When my horse Simon died i took all his rugs to the equine hospital, Leahurst. When they admit animals for treatment you are not allowed to leave your rugs as they get lost and if they get damaged people make claims on the hospital. Therefore they really appreciated mine!!! Have you an equine hospital near you? might be an idea. I didnt have to clean them either as they has their own machine!!!

I donate all of my cast offs to Redwings. They have had about 4 rugs and a saddle from me so far. I am sure that all of the charities will be thrilled with the rugs

Thanks again folks
I'll try the charities close to me - the Welsh unpronouncable one (well, I'm Scots

), and Redwings, etc to see if any takers.
The idea about equine hospitals is good too as one of mine had major surgery this year in there...but they seemed to let you take your own rugs...?
This is purely selfish, you understand....as I keep nearly getting killed by avalanches of rugs in my spare room
