Our elderly pug, who's back end isn't great anyway, has started weeing in her bed.

She's done it for the last two days. I'm worried she's become incontinent

She has also wee'd in the house, but thats not 100% unusual- if she wants to go and you miss her very subtle signal that's it! She's otherwise happy bright and normal.

Any thoughts suggestions etc. I'm worried that's it for her now and she's going to end up been pts

IN the past hour she has started to 'dribble', she doesn't know it's happening

I've put a pair of thights on her with a sanitary towel, but all her legs are wet.
I don't know what to do. She'll have to go to the vets tomorrow

C an you treat incontinence?

Take her to the vets. They can prescribe Propalin (I think that's the name). Our last old dog became incontinent and was prescribed this. It did help her a lot. Worth taking her just to get her checked out and make sure all is Ok. Good luck with her.

we have a young dog who has slight incontinence and all investogations failed to show cause of it. she was prescribed propalin but dont like idea of drug every day for life for young dog - wouldnt mind it with an older one tho. So I do a lot of washing and changing of sofa covers!

It sounds like incontinence...but probabley best to take a urine sample as suggested...just to rule out infection...there is effective treatment for incontinence...as suggested...propalin syrup....also invest in some vet bed..it locks the urine in...so does not leave her soaking or leave a trail when u are carrying it to washing machine...and is very easy to wash and dry.

She's been to the vet this morning and they think it's most likly to be cystitis- phew!
She's got some antibiotcs, so hopefully we'll see an improvement.
Thanks for all your advice, and I'm going to get some vet bed.

I haven't read you replies yet, so I hope I'm not repeating - this isn't unusual in a bitch that has been spayed or in later life (it can happen to women from menopause - having to go too the loo more frequetly, peeing when laughing, sneezing etc). The lack of oestrogen results in less tone in muscles around the bladder. You should be able to get hormone therapy (stilboestrol - its cheap) from your Vet. With a Rottie bitch I had, it worked like a dream.
