Hello. My 8 year old OTTB has had some on and off lameness on his right hind leg, and what we thought was a bone spavin turned out to be an old hip injury. He got it 4-5 years ago, during his racing career, when he got out of box like a crazy. Previous owners thought he ripped off his leg. Injury was horrible, but he recovered well and participated in 14 races. Never was lame again. I got him and he was in training for dressage. At some point, his croup/gaskin muscle on his rump got in a spasm. We thought he was compensating for his hock, but no. He is sound as long as he doesn't work heavily off his hinds. Injury is now a few years old, hips do not look different when looked at, and he only shows lameness when asked to work off his hinds. I planned to put him on Adequan Equine 7 vials, and then continue once or twice per year and a daily Cortaflex in his food. Vet thinks it will help him. I want to hear your opinions, advices, suggestion, or anything, even the smallest thing that could help me in his recovery. Thanks a ton! <3
