Old Mac G2 hoof boots

They are a bit clumpy but fit my girl well (she has very round hooves), reasonably easy to get on and off and are on their 3rd year of light use.

Once on they do tend to stay on, she's only once managed to dislodge one

Anyone got experience/ advice on the Old Mac G2 hoof boots?

They were the first hoof boots I bought 8 years ago when my horse's shoes came off. They were superb first time boots, very rugged and hard wearing, easy to get on and off. They can be used with pads for horses whose feet need a bit of additional cushioning/stimulation. They can be used for turnout over a poultice at a pinch. They are pretty good in terms of grip. They are not a bad price.

Cons were - the buckle was virtually impossible to do up when wet, and as we live in Scotland, it was wet a lot of the time ;) I believe they did fix this issue by making the straps longer in newer models. They are also difficult to keep clean if you don't have access to a hosepipe. As my horse's feet improved in shape, they didn't fit as well and flew off during a canter (nearly braining my friend who was cantering behind us). The uppers wear out long before the soles, although they can be repaired by a handy shoemaker.

I moved on to Easyboot Gloves once my horse's hooves neatened up a bit, and am currently awaiting our first pair of Renegades - there are more high tech and more practical boots than the G2s, but I still think either G2 or Cavallo are the best "starter" boots.

Thank you for the advice, I will give them a try

I agree entirely with Brightbay - we also moved onto Easyboot Gloves. The G2s never came off though in our case.
