3months ago I was given a 12'2 riding pony for use in my riding school. I was told she is in her teens and yet to see her passport. Started to get suspicions of her pregnancy a month ago and had the vet out to verify with a scan today. Turns out she is about 7months pregnant, which is fine but then further investigation of her teeth has revealed that she is actually in her 20s! Not believed to have foaled before so this will be her first time! Does anyone have any experience/ advise on the best way to manage this?

My I/D X TB mare had a first foal at 20 with no probs (at the time she was passported as 16) so it's not the end of the world.

Many pony mares go on breeding into their twenties, the main difficuly is getting them in foal in the first place once they are of a certain age!

phew, thats good to know, would be a shame if it causes her problems as very sprightly for her age and not a stiff joint in her!

I take it you have no idea who/what 'dad' could be?

Agree with amymay, repost this in the breeding section. Fingers crossed it will all go smoothly :)
