Hi, I'm in the process of roughing off my 26 year old pony for a well earned retirement. Can anyone suggest a good all round old pony supplement. He is going to be living out with good quality grass, breakfast and hay twice a day.
Cheers Bex

I give our retired girl Naf general supplement. They do a veterans version but it is vastly more expensive and to be honest I don't think she needs it. She only gets the supplement as she doesn't have hard feed, only a handful of dengi (she's a fatty) so I like to ensure she gets all her vitamins and minerals.

Mine (who is still in work) has top spec senior. She looks great on it and it has joint stuff and everything in it. Its all she has bar a bit of hi fi. She can still eat hay at the moment - has just enough teeth left! - and looks good.
It is about £40 a bag but lasts for ages.

I would imagine that any of the OAP supplements available on the market would be good or even a senior food.

At the stud I used to work at, the old stallion had old faithful, soakd pony nuts as he didnt have many teeth and chaff.

A joint supplement might be a something to consider.

PS A long and happy retirement to pony.
