Old saddle back rubs - anything to get rid of?

Cob pony has some small lumps in the saddle region, one on one side and a couple on the other. Old rubs I guess. They do not appear painful in any way, they are hard lumps and there is no reaction if pressed.

However, obviously it would be better if they weren't there - is there anything that might work to make them disappear?

In the bad old days of traditional felt numnahs I would have cut holes in one to relieve all the pressure when riding.

Not having seen a good old felt numnah for years now, I would not know where you could get one.

Yes, I have resolved these. I massaged surgical spirit into them twice a day. I don't mean just apply, I massaged too. At first, there is little effect. But, as you get down the surgical spirit starts to sort of melt the sore away. It becomes flat. After a wile, you have to stop as the skin will have had enough, but by then the hard part had totally gone and all that was left was the white mark. The horse never had an issue again.

Thank you for the recommendation. Actually massage is something I do anyway, so I can incorporate the surgical spirit or the Salve.

Great. I'll let you know how I get on.

Are they definitely old rubs? There are lumps whose name eludes me at the moment which appear…and can disappear.. Our oldie has a couple under her saddle and they ve never been a problem.
