Last March my young mare seriously wounded her off hind/right back leg, just below the front of the hock. She got caught up in some fencing and wrapped it around the leg causing a deep wound. She had 5 weeks box rest and further time off. It has healed very well but there is a lump of scar tissue. She is sound the majority of the time, is working well and starting to jump, which she is loving. However occasionally when I first canter on the right rein she does a few strides that feel uncomfortable. I'm currently having Indiba treatment to see if that helps but was wondering if anyone had experience with dealing with old scar tissue and if there is anything I could be doing to help her feel more comfortable? She has physio every 6 weeks, saddler every 3 months (as she's changing so much) and teeth checked regularly. Tried to attach a photo of the leg but can't as it's too large.

Have you had the vet back out? The only reason I ask is the pony I have on box rest / rehab right now probably injured her right hind as a youngster and its the scar tissue that's caused the wonky hoof balance and probably annular ligament issues (guess work but once her feathers were off there was stripes of white hair and rough skin suggesting an injury). Given her background she was probably patched up and left to get on with it whereas intervention as a youngster might have saved problems down the line.

Vet said they might have tried a steroid injection but its too far down the line now
