I am thinking of buying a field shelter. I have a trailer which I will be selling as it is no longer needed which will almost pay for a small shelter. It just occurred to me that I could use the trailer for the shelter and avoid all the selling and buying. Is this a good idea? Has anyone done this? Did it work?

yes, I used to use an old trailer as a field shelter, we took the wheels off and droped it on to its axels, so that it didn't move or wobble about, leave the wheels on if you think you might have problems with planning

I wouldn't, trailers aren't horse proof on the outside generally... have bits sticking out that they could get caught on (hitch, mudguards etc). Also they aren't really big enough and horse might get stuck in it!!
I was amazed how much I got for my old trailer on Ebay... started it at £50 really not expecting much more as it needed plenty of work doing, and I got over £400 for it!!
I'd sell it and get a purpose built shelter.
