Oldencraig versus Talland

For the other part of my holiday I thought I might treat myself to a special lesson at one of these. Bearing in mind that I am a nervous novice wet nelly (fully paid up member of the club!) which would you sugest? I need somewhere that is friendly with at least one well schooled BUT sensible kind schoolmaster.
 
I'd go for the one closest to you!

Talland have grand prix horses you can ride to learn what sort of feeling you are looking for.

I am actually there on saturday having a show jumping lesson with Brian Hutton (my own horse - and its only 15 mins from me!)
 
I would def recommend Talland, havin spent 18months there a long time ago!! They have a great selection of horses and will match you up with a suitable mount....have fun!!!
 
I cant really comment on Oldencraig - apart from the facilities look wonderful! But I do train at Talland with Pammy & love the whole set up.
They recently moved from their old place into a purpose built centre, indoor 60x40 (40m of mirrors!) and a huge outdoor too, great cafe & loads of parking.
They have alot of schoolmasters there (even some ex olympians

) that are wonderful for showing you how things should be done!
The instructors all have their own strengths, but are all so freindly & patient

I can only speak from my own experience, but I enjoy my time there & am sure you would too!

Don't know about Oldencraig but took CCj to Talland before they moved for a lesson or two on an Advanced horse. Justine taught her and was fab.
She and my husband also had lots of training at Tall Trees when Pammy and her assistant visited, and really there is nothing to fear.
I think Pammy tends to concentrate on serious riders, but their horses are without doubt the best schoolmasters I have ever seen.

I went to Talland recently, also taught by Justine, and it was fabulous. They have either school horses or advanced schoolmasters. I had one of the advanced horses who was a superstar, I learnt more in that 3/4 hr than in probably 10 lessons on my own horse. I was worried Justine would be scary but she was brilliant, can't recommend her enough.

Never been to Oldencraig so I can't comment, but Justine said in her opinion (obviously she is going to say this...) there isn't anywhere else in the UK to rival Talland now they've moved to the new place. She said Wellington used to be their competition but that has gone so much down hill now that they consider themselves the premier RS in the country...

I would go again and am currently saving the pennies to go back! Aim to go once a month but in reality it will probably be about once every 3!
 
That's interesting as my RS thinks that they can rival Wellington, if not better. Trouble is my RS is limited by space/size but they're going to be biased as well

I'd go for Talland over Oldencraig any day
