Older beginner riders, London

Hi, I'm in north London but can travel anywhere, for the right thing. I did some group lessons a few years ago at Lea valley. I got to a fairly confident trot but I need to start again and progress a bit faster. I'm not trying to become a pro, but I would like to enjoy a countryside hack. I really would prefer not to be the only over 50 in a group again though 😟

I'm south London so I can only go on recommendations. But what about Trent Park? My daughter did her BHS exams there and the horses seemed good.

You would definitely not be the only lady in their prime at Trent Park. Weekends can be very busy, but they cater for huge variety of levels. If you can ride during the week it tends to be quieter.

Once you have your riding legs back on (if you can make it during weekdays) they have regular Blazing Saddles group which might be just your cup of tea.

Trent Park or High Beech would be my suggestions. More hacking is available from High Beech, and both would understandably insist that you have an assessment before slotting you into a relevant group or allowing you to join a hack. Both are friendly places. Trent Park is quite a bit bigger than Lee Valley, with High Beech being about half the size. Both are very busy at the weekends. Trent Park is closed on Mondays and High Beech on Tuesdays if that helps.
