My older collie has bit of a limp, it’s her front right and I think it’s her paw (just through feeling and judging her reaction)
She is 12 and a half or thereabouts (only had her 3 years)
During this 3 years she has had odd times with a limp, the first time I took her to the vet but she was fine when we got there. She absolutely go’s to pieces at the vets since having to be left there for a small operation the first year I had her, she won’t really co-operate and is terrified if the vet touches her or comes near.
She is due her jabs next month, although a bit of me wonders how essential this is anymore?
If we go I will run the limp past the vets again but on examination she will be fine.
I’d say it happens every few months for a hour-a day tops, then she’s back to her ball chasing self instantly, there appears to be no getting better, just sore or not!
Any ideas?

Arthritis probably. If it's worse after she's resting after exercise then wears off a bit once she's up and moving its most likely arthritis.
you could try youmove. It would be best to get the vet to check though. It could be arthritis in her toes.

Tawny is the same, always sound at the vets. They must think I have Munchausen's by Proxy.
I would try a supplement and see. And at 12 I personally wouldn't jab, but everyone has their own opinion onm that!

Ask your vet about jabbing -they have the most up to date knowledge. Dont listen to internet rumour on it
Re the limp- if arthritic a decent vet should be able to tell that- I'd go and do da jabs and check limp visit soon.

Our Collie is roughly the same age. He occasionally goes lame in front, and is arthritic in his pelvis and back legs. Yumove has helped, but he now has tramadol as well. He’s allowed up to 3 a day, but is managing well just on 2. There are odd days when he’s overdone it a bit with the ball that he has a third, but we try not to let him go too mad generally.

To be honest, we stopped his jabs a year ago. He needs muzzling at the vets which stresses him, and he’s never going to go into kennels now, so seemed unnecessary in our opinion. Our vet didn’t disagree.

When my dog was like that I put her on Yumove and also had some Onsior (NSAID) for when she’s overdone it. She didn’t have these every day just when needed.

We went to the vet originally with the intention of getting an NSAID for Aled. He had a blood test which showed high urea levels. Tramadol is kidney friendly apparently. I did take in a urine sample a couple of days later, and testing that, the vet is happy for him to have an NSAID as and when if I think he needs it, but so far, so good.

I will have a look at a supplement, It would be hard to tell if one made a lot of difference tbh because she is fine for so long between episodes. A lady in the village was telling me of amazing results with a supplement for her old girl after i commented on her looking rather sprightly and willing out walking! Ill have a chat with her and find out what it was.
She was playing quite a lot last night as we were sat outside and the idiot labradogs thought that was just too exciting!
